1. Dear Drugs-Forum readers: We are a small non-profit that runs one of the most read drug information & addiction help websites in the world. We serve over 4 million readers per month, and have costs like all popular websites: servers, hosting, licenses and software. To protect our independence we do not run ads. We take no government funds. We run on donations which average $25. If everyone reading this would donate $5 then this fund raiser would be done in an hour. If Drugs-Forum is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online another year by donating whatever you can today. Donations are currently not sufficient to pay our bills and keep the site up. Your help is most welcome. Thank you.

    Well I dont think I can post a link so will have to types this up. I found this intresting listening to it so I thought I would share it with you all.

    Ok, this is going to be in Narrated conversation.....

    Setting- Studio with audience, The panel consists of Nigel Farage MEP of UKIP, and Peter Hain MP of Labour. Name of host is unknown but is a BBC broadcaster.

    Guy in Audience- With the resignation today of another member of the Drug Advisory Council, does the panel think that it's time to set up a truely independant body Independant from Government interference?

    Nigel Farage- Well this Mephedrone bussiness, I got a Son at university in this county, in Exeter, that tells me that this has reached crazed proportions over the course of the last few weeks.

    Erm, I wondered what the government might do, will they try an ban it or not, erm, It has of course had to go to the European Union. To ask for permission to ban it, and this is why it has been delayed.

    Atleast the Irish Government Peter unlike you are honest in saying this.
    However, That said I would go further than the question.

    The question you asked, Do we need a proper independant panel?
    I would go further, I have a feeling that prohibition in this whole area simply isnt working.

    Every year we are saying we will fight the war on drugs harder than we did the year before.
    I think that this is one of the areas in life, and whilst people might find this distasteful, I think we need a proper full Royal Commision on this whole area of drugs.

    To investigate weather prehaps life might be better for millions of people living on council estates, that are dominated by the drugs dealers, that are dominated by the crime that surrounds the money that people rise to get these drugs.
    Lets find out with a Royal Commision weather prehaps we might decriminalise drugs, weather we should licence them, licence the users and sell them at Boots.
    Because frankly if you add up the cost of drugs to society, the big problem is the fact that they are criminal, and everything that goes with that.

    I think there is an argument that says "if we decriminalised it, we will make the lives of millions of people far better than they are today".

    General audience- CLAP,CLAP,CLAP,CLAP, CLAP, CLAP, CLAP, CLAP, CLAP....

    Host- Peter Hain

    Peter Hain- Well there you have it, the great UKIP prospectus for britain. Decriminalising drugs, and pulling out of Europe.

    Nigel Farage- well, well, sorry Peter, but, but, your policy is failing year upon year isn't it. The drugs problem gets worse, the cost of policing it, the cost of prisons.
    It gets worse every year.

    Peter Hain- Well I don't, I don't, I'd like to see any of your candidates get any serious votes on a policy of just a drugs free-for-all.

    Nigel Farage- I didn't say that, I said a Royal Commision and investigate it, and you know that!

    General audience- CLAP,CLAP,CLAP,CLAP,CLAP,CLAP,CLAP.....

    Nigel Farage- If you examine, If you examing the percentage of crime, the amount of police time, the amount of court time, and the amount of people in prision you add it all up and drugs are costing this country £50bn-£70bn a year.
    All because, all because it is a criminal activity. I would argue that when the ban of Mephedrone comes in the big winners are the drug dealers.

    Peter Hain- I think that that is frankly a nonsense, I am astonished that a political party should be able to.....

    {cutting in mid-way} Host- Dont go th.....

    Nigel Farage- Well your policy is failing isn't it, failing. More and more people are taking drugs, the cost is up every year.
    We are losing the war on drugs, lets face up to that.

    Host- Lets just say from the neutral position of the chair that he {Nigel Farage} isn't the only one, maybe one of the few big political party bigwigs to be advocating this, maybe the only one.
    But there are a number of in the field, including Police Officers and former Police Officers that do believe that decriminalisation in certain parts of the territory will ease than exggerate the problem.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Well although not from a newpaper, but from the BBC Radio I think this was a good outlook on drugs.
    I apologize if the spelling is wrong or maybe ive made gramma mistakes, but I have wrote exactly what I heard on the issue, even the stuttering.
    I had heard from a friend that UKIP had a radical view on the legalization of drugs. It seems this guy definetly has the power of knowledge in his corner.
    Thanks for sharing this nightplant.
    If you could find a link to this, or an audio copy of it, that would be greatly welcomed as it could be added in full to the News Forum or the File Archive.
    Please note that the way we post news has changed, because of our main news page. You can find the full instructions here.
    The most important changes are:
    • Articles are no longer posted in quotes.
    • The introduction of the article should be in bold.
    • Images should be added if possible and placed in the article, following the instructions linked to above and here.
    • Information about the article, like link, author, date should be posted below the article.
    • Your personal comments about the article can be posted either in quotes at the end of the article or in a separate post.
    • The news forums may contain news articles only
    • Make sure you include all the text from the original article. Don't just post the URL because web pages often disappear or get moved over time. Remove all unnecessary formatting from the text before posting. One easy way to do this is to paste the text into notepad or another text editor first, which will remove any formatting. Also try to remove picture captions, advertisement links and other text that doesn't belong to the body of the article.
    Please be so kind to review your articles and correct this.
    Further it may be good to know that recent articles with the highest thread ratings show up on the main news page. So without ratings, many people will not see it. So please rate news threads.
    The main news page is accessible from the tabs on the top of any DF page.
    Chillinwill, yes I can reformat the post, and I can get links, however the soundtrack covers a large number of issues that are not relevent to drugs, and I am unable to edit it.
  4. chillinwill
    Thanks for correcting that nightplant. Hmm is there anyway you can isolate the part that pertains to the discussion on drugs?
  5. nightplant
    Tbh I would know how to! However if anyone does they could pm me an I'll provide the link.
    I could post the whole soundtrack and state the start-finish times relevent to just this issue.
    I might have a friend that could do it, I'll find out tomorrow.
  6. Terrapinzflyer
