Upstate NY Cop Accused of Underage Gay Sex & Drug Trafficking

A former upstate New York police officer is accused of running a drug ring using local teens--and of improper contact with two 15-yer-old boys who allegedly sold drugs for him.

A June 13 article in local newspaper the Post-Standard said that Fredrick J. Baunee had retired from his position as a police officer three years ago, even as a case was pending against him for having allegedly given an underage boy alcohol and caressed him.

Now, prosecutors say that Baunee improperly touched two other underage boys as they slept over at Baunee’s home during a summer of drug sales at teen hangouts and at the state fair.

The boys who were allegedly touched by Baunee also allegedly sold drugs for him; the former police officer reportedly allowed teens to keep some the proceeds, or even some of the illicit substances they were dealing, for themselves as a reward for selling large enough quantities.

Police staged a raid on Baunee’s home last September and came away with small amounts of marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms.

Now Baunee faces 46 counts in connection with the alleged drug dealing. Prosecutors are looking to put Baunee into the state jail and onto the sex offenders’ registry, the article said.

A British police officer found himself in hot water for having used the computer at work to check up on men with whom he had sex--and to see whether anyone had reported his own vehicle in association with sexual encounters, a June 11 Daily Express article said.

Officer Haydn Evans admitted to accessing information on half a dozen he picked up for sex. Evans, 55, who is the married father of two grown children, sought criminal and health data on the men, as well as checking to see whether any police reports on activity taking place at known cruising grounds made reference to his own vehicle’s license plate number.

Evans is a 28-year veteran with the South Wales Police, the article said. His lawyer, Andrew Nutman, told the press that, He accepts it was unlawful access and he regrets that.

He is a married man of 31 years but regrettably his wife and two adult sons were unaware of these matters. Added the lawyer, Whatever the sentence, the real sanction will take place beyond [the family home’s] doors.
