Where hath their revoluationary spirit gone?

If you lived in the 60/70s and used drugs I have a question for you: What happened? You were the generation that sat around smoking pot all day, you were the generation that talked about free love, and you were the generation that talked about (like almost every generation in recent times) being different than those who had come before you.
You guys turned out to be the same though. You, who talked about ending fear, have created a culture completely dependent on it. The last two presidents the USA has had both did drugs. The candidate who will probably win the next election has too. But all these people, rather than end a drug war that costs 50 billion dollars a year and accomplishes nothing except creating fear, rather poor more money into it.
I couldn't figure out... for years why this was. But recently I saw that there are two reasons. The first is you need all the fear you can create. People who are afraid are people who will do what they are told. And second the drug war never effected you. The people who control this country never would have gotten more than a slap on the wrist if they had be caught with drugs. They wouldn't serve 20 years for possession.
They'd do 20 hours of community service.

Clinton... Bush... you guys were immune from the monster you now support . Your children can do anything. They could have coke on them... and never see the inside of a jail cell. But alas it's not like for normal people.
As the young we are starting to become aware of this fact. We are starting to see that the people who control us don't have our best interests at heart. We are starting to see that you don't really want to protect us, simply control us.

We aren't violent revolutionaries. We don't want the workers to control the means of production or any of that crap. We simply want equality. Not real equality, we understand our schools will never be as good as yours. We understand our children will never have the advantages that yours do. We just want the courts to view everyone the same. We just want discrimination within the judicial system to end. We just want laws that are only applied against us to end.
