Ketamine grapefruit juice potentiation

SWIM has heard plenty of talk about grapefruit juice (GFJ) potentiating opiates but very little talk about its effect on ketamine. I'm fairly certain ketamine is broken down by the same P460 CYP3A4 enzyme's that opiates are so it should work. CYP3A4 is what turns awesome ketamine into awful norketamine. Inhibiting the enzyme should lead to both increased peak and longer duration, likely with a more pronounced effect on duration.

SWIM has not tried this and probably wont be able to for a little while but will post here when he can. I have seen one or two other threads on this but all old and with no actual experiences. One study i read somewhere talked about potentiating ketamine in rats but i forget where i read it...

Anyway any info, particularly first hand experiences, on the effectiveness of this potentiation would be much appreciated!

Re: Ketamine grapefruit juice potentiation

thx for the link, not sure why i didnt see that thread earlier!

For anyone too lazy to read through that thread: Grapefruit juice does indeed potentiate ketamine but ONLY when taken orally. GFJ only has an effect on the enzymes in the intestines, not in the liver. So if you snort or IM your ketamine (as nearly everybody does), GFJ will have no effect. If you snort a ton of ketamine you will likely end up swallowing a decent amount of it and the GFJ will make a difference there. Oral ketamine sucks generally but maybe with GFJ could be a little better.

Oral ketamine is more anethetising and less usually regarded as pleasent. Also acidic drinks make K-pains far worse. If your K needs potentiating do a bit more.
