Unanswered: What is the drug detection time for 1 time ativan use?
Swim made a thread similar to this but swim is facing significant jail time and needs specifics.. swim read the stickied drug testing thread and it explained benzodiazpine use shows up on a drug test for anywhere from 1-42 days and swim would like to know something more precise & would really appreciate any feedback.
Swim took 3 mg of ativan hours after completing a court ordered drug test on Thursday the 23rd, which swim is required to do randomly for a year. Swim saw on one website the detection period was 7-10 days for one time use which is why i went ahead and took the 3mg dose.... then today i saw it was 1-42 day detection period on this site and now im freaking out. Whats a realistic amount of time that the one dose will be detected, please help me here and thanks in advance.

swim forgot not to self-incriminate half-way through, sorry. Anyway it took them 30 days to call swim in for his first drug test after being released from jail, so swim figured they wont call him in for another drug test the very next... Swim is thinking about trying to obtain an ativan prescription just in case, but the chances of that seem very slim. Don't forget to answer my question up there about the 3mg ativan detection time

7-10 days for a single use is what I'm seeing. That's urine tests. It would be detectable in hair longer. I doubt you have anything to worry about unless they call you in the next couple of days. You shouldn't be taking anything that can get you in trouble if you're this worried about it. The punishments can be very strict in our great state of KY.

appreciate the response... and yes the consequences would be great if swim failed, 330 days in the shithole of county jail... it took them 30 days or so before they did the first drug test on Thursday so swim figures they wont hit him with another drug test the very next week, and swim saw on most websites that a single dose would be in the system 7-10 days, so swim said F*** it and went ahead and took the pills.
If anybody else has another opinion on the subject feel free to respond.
And to any moderators swim apologize if this is covered in another thread, but swim didnt see any specific detection time on benzodiazepines in any other thread. Just the vague 1-42 which swim knows isn't correct bc swims drug testing agency told swim marijuana wont even show on urine tests if you stay abstinent for a month to a month & a half.
Benzodiazepines is a LARGE class of drugs. Their duration of effect and detection times can vary considerably based on how the body processes the drug. Some benzodiazepines are designed to last a long time and stick around in the body.
Ativan or lorazepam is a short-acting benzodiazepine, meaning that it is one of the benzodiazepines that does not stick around very long.
SWIM is a 5' 7" 120lb male and has taken 5mg of lorazepam exactly 7 days before a LAB test with GC/MS confirmation and passed. Lorazepam is not very soluble in fat compared to other benzos like diazepam and it also has a short half life and no active metabolites. SWIM would say 3 - 7 days is adequate time for a one time use of lower doses depending on your body type the skinnier the better though. If SWIY feels the need to take benzos take alprazolam(xanax) it is out usually in 3 days and has a better buzz.
EDIT: Also its benzos are similar to pot for testing in that the more SWIY uses them consecutively as in a break short than 7 days the more it will build up and have a higher chance in showing up.

Also if SWIY wants to get buzzed and is getting DTed opiates are the best drug to do if he is willing to take the risk on even benzos.

^ that was really helpful thanks for that response, thats what swim was looking for, not advice on decision making. Swim is working on getting a prescription so swim can dodge a failed drug test if it happens. Do they test for the exact benzodiazepine on lab drug tests or just for the general category? Does that matter??, say if you take ativan, it shows up on a drug test, but only have a prescription for, say valium ? Would swim fail? speaking hypothetically here obviously
Ok, here's one more question: for example, say if swim has been taking ativan, but gets a prescription for valium, so he stops taking ativan (it was just 5mg in 1 day at once) and starts taking valium... will taking the valium in any way increase the amount of ativan in your system? or will the ativan slowly leave your system regardless if you begin taking another benzodiazepine?
I did some digging. There's no evidence of accumulation of lorazepam for up to 6 months of chronic use. It doesn't stick around like some of the other benzodiazepines. Lorazepam is eliminated rather quickly from the body for a benzodiazepine. I saw one reference that detected lorazepam in the urine for up to a week with clinical doses (2.5mg). At the doses you mentioned it should be gone by 10 days. I can't speak for higher recreational doses.
Wait, I'm unclear. Do you mean 3-5 mg once a week? or daily for a week?
Re: What is the drug detection time for 1 time ativan use?
A single time Lorazepam usage will be detectable for up to 1-2 days. A more chronic administration of drug will extend that window of detection to 1-4 days or so. Of course, it is highly dependent on dosage of drug consumed. Typical confirmatory cutoffs are 10-300 ng/mL.
