Dear Drugs-Forum readers: We are a small non-profit that runs one of the most read drug information & addiction help websites in the world. We serve over 3 million readers per month, and have costs like all popular websites: servers, hosting, licenses and software. To protect our independence we do not run ads. We take no government funds. We run on donations which average $25. If everyone reading this would donate $5 then this fund raiser would be done in an hour. If Drugs-Forum is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online another year by donating whatever you can today. Donations are currently not sufficient to pay our bills and keep the site up. Your help is most welcome. Thank you.
SWIM would like to know if when putting the needle in, does blood HAVE to be present in the needle, is that so you know its in the vein? If so, how does SWIM do this? SWIM is afraid of injecting the wrong way
If he's afraid of injecting the I suggest he not do it. However, if he's intent on using this ROA (route of administration) here are a couple of topics to start SWIY off. Just UTSE, there's so much info already here. Just remember, if he continues to inject the likelihood of OD is more likely, and he will end up with thrombosed (ropey) veins.
SWIM is also going to walmart to pickup the syringes. They said the sell 10 packs pretty cheap, do any of you know how much? And the lady on the phone told SWIM I need to tell them the size and how many CC SWIM needs. What should swim say?
JustOneQuestion added 8 Minutes and 52 Seconds later...
Also, is a 22gauge syringe ok? They do not have any 20gauge needles. swim had to lie and say it was for swims mothers insulin and they suggested 29gauge. swim needs to know the best gauge needle asap as swim is about to go pick them up

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
if swiy needs to ask on the internet thats a good reason to hold off until swiy has more info. all it could take is an air bubble for a quick death, there really isnt space for mistakes here.. hopefully this isnt the only reasearch on the topic??
ps, plz communicate to swiy how dangerous this is and make sure they do not attempt this yet.
A nurse told to SWIM it doesn't matter if it's injected out of the vein because the solution goes under the skin and it is absorbed by little veins. If SWIY doesn't dare or can't flush the blood in the syringe, it doesn't matter.
In fact, the best advice is : "do not inject drugs". And all the stuffs, hands and place must be clean.
Swim strongly advises that you get some info from swiy drug clinic on injecting. Swim presumes that that sort of info is available in the U.S. If not, then contact a drug clinic in the U.K., & they should send swiy this important information. Swim does add thought if swiy doesn't know the correct way of injecting then don't do it. It is very dangerous if done incorrectly. Swim is able to supply swiy U.K. addresses of drug clinics,if needed, there's almost one in every city.
even though this had been covered many times swim wants to add that swiy should pull the needle plunger back several times to be sure that its in the vien. blood must be present in order to inject into a vein. this is especially important when injecting into smaller veins, but even big ones can be easy to slip out of. swim usually pulls back the needles plunger about 4 or 5 time to be certain hes in the vein. also make sure after swiy gets blood into the syringe loosen whatever he is using to tie off with, or he could pop his vein. it takes practice and a steady hand to become a responsible iv user, and if swiy isn't he may be in for some bad times ahead of him.
