Swim is not overweight and runs 2 miles a day but still cant get it too normal. Tried numerous meds. Beta blockers Diuretic’s ect. Tests all come out normal on kindneys ect.
Skip was wondering if anyone knows anyone named Swim who has had this problem and if so what drugs they are taking and or methods to control there blood pressure.
Average pressure is 165 over 105 normal is 120 over 90
SWIM can recommend lots of fish oil/cod liver oil; garlic, ideally fresh; Mukta Vati which is an ayurvedic dietary supplement that can be ordered online (SWIM has found very effective and quite quickly too, though she only takes it sporadically due to high price and side effects
including stuffed nose and tiredness); jiagolan tea; Q enzyme 10; eating lots of potassium including bananas; magnesium citrate. B vitamins, including folic acid; vitamin C.
SWIM doesn't always take all these things all the time but has noted over the years that they're all quite effective. The Dash Diet is also very good. Gentle aerobic exercise too.
Perhaps SWIY's doctor could tweak the meds SWIY is on; at 165/105, swim would suggest medications at that level, whereas someone who is borderline like (just under 130/90) can currently get away without being on anything. Swim would prefer to get hers consistently below 120/80. She notes that it drops when she religiously takes all her supplements but it's too many pills to swallow, LOL
ACE-inhibitors and ARBs are excellent for blood pressure if SWIY can tolerate the side effects (which I couldn't, though most can). They caused SWIM to develop a dry cough and blocked sinuses, and raised potassium levels though 80% are OK on them. Calcium Channel Blockers are another possibility.
Good luck though; there's always hope.
