has a vein care question, and she's wondering if SWIY's ever had the same problem, and if they have any suggestions for SWIM.
Basically, SWIM has always had very small and hard-to-reach veins, and from the very start, she's pretty much had to rotate between 4 veins (2 in the crook of each arm). She's tried hitting the ones in her wrists/hands with a 31 gauge syringe, but 90% of the time it's a missed hit, or she gets a giant bruise from just trying to register. And she's NEVER been able to use the veins in her feet/legs. Recently, SWIM's been having trouble hitting the 4 veins she's always used, and even though she usually takes very good care of them (vitamin E oil, Neosporin, and arnica gel every night), her veins are beginning to scar heavily/possibly collapse. Her veins feel very bumpy when touched, almost like they're covered in Braille.
SWIM attributes this to the fact that she's been unable to get to her NE for a few weeks, so she has to re-use each rig about 6-8 times, and also was really high a little while ago, and started digging around her arms with the needle (and she knows what a stupid idea this was
Is there any way she can recover the use of these veins again, or will they collapse permanently? Before, all SWIM had to do to get her veins back to perfect condition was just quit for a week, and let them recover, but she thinks that they're more damaged this time.
