Pregabalin (Lyrica)

Swim's friend used to be prescibed Lyrica until they suspected he was abusing it. Swim's friend didn't know much about Lyrica but soon discovered it was a drug with very high recreational potential.

Swim's friend used to build up a stash until he had enough to pass out to everyone in the group.
Swim was one of the last out of the group to try it and believed his friends when they said Lyrica is great in higher doses when combined with alcohol.
Swim doesn't know at this stage if alcohol was really necessary but in any case they didn't go bad together on the first and only time he done Lyrica.

It was in a hotel room with two friends. Everyone got drunk and the Lyrica was passed out. Swim took about 1200mg of lyrica in total over the night.
Swim had one of the most psychedelic experiences he ever had. And Swim has done LSD before.
Everyone was laughing and found it difficult to walk around the room. To get from one side of the room to the other, Swim had to use to wall to hold himself up.
The night felt as if everyone was in a world far from reality. There was no confusion or paranoia, just lots of laughter and hallucinations.
One memorable example was when Swim was lying down on the bed with
his eyes closed. He felt as if he was deeply dreaming even though he was fully awake. Woke up the next day and everyone was laughing about what a crazy night it was.

This isn't to condone Lyrica abuse in any way, just sharing a single experience.

Re: Pregabalin (Lyrica)

My cat took 400mg of lyrica and about 1.5 hours later smoked some good hash. My cat was fucked up, everything felt good, scense (sp) of touch was enhanced greatly, the euphoria was amazing my cat couldnt stop smiling it was awsome. My cat told me it felt lile ecstasy and ghb, this is definately a drug worth looking into!

Re: Pregabalin (Lyrica)

My dog scooter keeps talking about how even after months of daily use (prescribed for nerve damage) the effects are still enjoyable. No more delightful "ecstasy", "ghb"'ish feelings, but a fun less stressed mind. And of course, it's great for sleep!

Re: Pregabalin (Lyrica)

I was prescribed something like 100mg B.I.D. for anxiety for a short while. It is used off-label for GAD, which isnt exactly my diagnosis, but it did help some without a doubt. I never took more than prescribed, but was actually astonished at how recreational I found it could have been. Even at the low dose I took I would say it was easily comparable to + or - 15mg hydrocodone. I was far more surprised it was only schedule 5. I suspect that will change some time in the near future.

Probably, that shit is bomb. Music sounds so good on high doses, that may be why people are comparing it to molly... but it's a deeper feeling, a lower frequency of psychedelic energy, if that makes sense. That's what my pet aardvark told me, anyway.

Re: Pregabalin (Lyrica)

Swim found 4x75mg of Lyrica today in a shop. Pocketed it hoping it might be good, but for all he knew it was an anti-biotic. Did a little research & it turns out it has widely reported recreational value. Swim has a massive tolerance to benzos & is interested in the anxiety reliving aspect of this drug - if or when the effects set in Swim may take 20mg diazepam too as he has read they're potentiated by lyrica, but only after he gets a clear idea of what the Lyrica is about - don't wanna confuse my research
x

Brazil82 added 796 Minutes and 50 Seconds later...

Have mixed feelings about my first (& probably last) experience with Lyrica. The effect kicked in after about an hour & even at what seemed a low dose for recreational use (300mg) the effect was quite strong. Felt amusingly disorientated but not particularly euphoric. Was a bit limited by the pouring rain which at one point I wanted to go out in but decided against it. Listened to music & played a little xbox which was nice at times then frantically did a load of chores before feeling pleasantly tired & going to bed really early. Would probably experiment with it again but in a different environment, but as I'm on diazepam long term I doubt I could get my doctor to prescribe it. Woke up early feeling fairly straight.

Re: Pregabalin (Lyrica)

Got a new box of Lyrica Friday lunchtime. Over the next 36 hours i consumed 56 x 75mg tablets. Felt very happy and positive about everyone and everything. My mind felt clear and thoughts flowed freely. However my eyes... My eyes were sulken and i could hardly keep my eye lids open. Not that i noticed untill i looked into the mirror. Looked like i was majorly greened out.

Comedown was hard, suicidal intention flooded my thoughts. And even now, two days later something "still isnt right"

Re: Pregabalin (Lyrica)

Dude is prescribed 90, 150mg pills for restless leg syndrome every month. Dude normally takes one upon waking, one after lunch and one in the early evening.

Dude loves the feeling of this stuff, it reminds him so much of the feeling of GHB. Dude gets a feeling of calming relaxation while at the same time feels jacked up and charged, with feelings of excitement. The feeling of excitement dude really likes, it's a feeling in the chest and stomach, like when as kid dude was excited about Christmas or as an adult about to get laid. On a daily basis dude is always in a state of charged up happiness.

Dude is an alcoholic and G head, I have a feeling dude's brain chemistry is set up just right to extract everything recreational from pregabalin (Lyrica). The pill bottle and magazine ads even say that people with drug or alcohol addiction may likely abuse the medication.

Sometimes dude will open the capsules and snort small bumps of the medication. The feeling reminds dude so much of G'ing and using cocaine at the same time. Dude gets very jacked up and starts bouncing off the walls looking for stuff to do.

Dude can only handle snorting it on a rare occasion because the intensity can be annoying after a day or two.

Lyrica feels a lot like G, but at the same time isn't the same feeling… very hard to explain. I know this for sure, I'm set for life with the stuff and will forever be medicated on it. It has helped dude refrain from 3 month long drunken, homelessness binges which is a huge bonus. Also dude can't find his beloved GHB anymore and stopped looking because of how difficult it is to find. Lyrica has filled that empty void despite not exactly feeling like G.

Dude loves to use other drugs too, while medicated on Lyrica. Dude notices that just like GHB, Lyrica will enhance the pleasurable effect of other drugs especially, cannabis or stimulants.

Dude says Lyrica is a recreational drug from personal experience.

Why would you take so many pills? Your after effects are pretty much exactly what I would expect from any massive over-dose of drugs.

Is it safe to take Lyrica for the first time without a prescription? SWIM really wants to try it but is worried about the side effects. SWIM is taking 40mg Adderall and wants to use Lyrica for crashes.

That would be safe but lyrica didn't act as a downer back when I used to take it...
It's fun though, taking like 800 mgs with no tolerance gave me a shimmering beautiful day of stumbling around campus annoying the crap out of my ex girlfriend.

Re: Pregabalin (Lyrica)

Hi
It has been 1.5y I started playing with tramadol using 150-200mg a single dose 1-2x a week. It became my rx med of choice for an easy night mind research sessions with my girl...

It haas been 2 months playing with pregabalin. It's not the same energy in comparison with tramadol so I still like it as but I felt in love with pregabalin so badly that it would've broken tramadol's heart if it had any

I'm a 70kg male and my sweet spot is 375mg a single dose again 1-2x a week to battle tolerance and keep it all fresh. I have tried to take more but I get just more tired and nodding off to early instead of towards the end when nodding is more or less wanted anyway as I love melting phases at the end if my research sessions...if too strong, nodding too early that does kill that amazing magic pregabalin can cast over your mind space...Such an ease and deep unshakable happiness about..everything..about natural flow of things...at some moments looking at how I felt I would define it as a mind state of total anti-anxiety..

It takes about an hour to first symptoms to appear..the most I get between 2nd-6th hour after ingestion...after that it slowly drifts away bearing resemblance to opiates...
It generally makes me pretty useless at nights or after long nap what as being fresh father is not needed 'cos I must help at nights a bit to my girl with our fresh twin boys. If she manage to wake.me up what is unlikely next morning I don't remember what I was doing and if I manage to do anything it was total mindless nonsense..so I must start my sessions early afternoon the latest what literally turns the rest of the day really enchanting....
...onto the top of the stuff I mentioned so far I should say it is amazing for pretty little walks especially in nature, just lying and listening to good music (it produces very interesting body relax and very distinct close-eye-visuals(kinda ketamin like)..and one more was there...mmmmmmmm..yeah, totally...even in a lower doses it has a great power to smooth out most of potential unpleasant comedown symptoms of most of heavier non-rx compounds

Cheers for reading and all the best to all of You!

Btw. I'm pretty sure there was one more pleasant aspect of pregabalin magic..hmmmmm...yeah making love is just really freaking beautiful

Re: Pregabalin (Lyrica) first time expirence

I was always curious about the drug since i seen the commericals that warned about possible drug abuse. I wondered how a non narcotic could have that type of affect.

My friend originally told me about the recreational use of it and how it might make one feel. I didnt think much of it since i have family members who are perscribed it for nerve pain from diabetes. So i decided to try it for myself after reading of many pleasant things people wrote.

I am a recovering addict of hard opiates. I take a small dose of suboxone everyday, klonopin, lithium and trazadone for sleep if needed. So at about 730pm one night i took a little over 500mg of brand lyrica (pregbalin). I have an anxiety disorder which is why im perscribed benzos even though those dont last long so im naturally very. Anxious.

After about 45 50 min i didnt feel anything so i decided to take another 75mg totaling 600mg. I layed down for awhilevto let it kick in. After about 1 1/2hr i still didnt feel anything besides maybe a heavy head and some dissociative feelings. I got up to go to the bathroom only 20ft from my bed. When i stood up and took a step a rush of off balance dizziness hit me and barely made it to the bathroom before going back to lay down because i could not stand which was not a good feeling. After that the affects were starting. I had extreme off balance feelings, was dizzy, slightly swollen hands which felt funky. My mood did seemed to be heightened. I wanted to do stuff i nust could because i was too impaired to do anything besides watch tv. The dizziness was building with the off balance after 2 hours from taking it still. I was starting to feel sick as a result so i tried to lay still but that seemed to make it worse so i sat up straight and that seemed to keep me from getting sick. The affects were intense and were still getting stronger hours after Ingesting i was begining to think i was having a negative reaction to the drug, and naturally having anxiety disorder i started to have a panic attack and felt horrible.

Eventually i managed to lay down and passout which is the last i remember. I remeber that before i passed out i was very pleasantly sleepy if that makes sense and felt like i could have a rested sleep. Anyway whe i woke up next morning i still felt pretty high i was off balance still but not enough to keep me from moving. My mood though surprised me the most. After what i thought to be a bad expirence for me i felt great inthe morning i was talkative, had energy and felt slightly euphoric. Those effects lasted a few hours and the off balance went away completely another hour after that but i still felt lingering off balance affects up to a few days after taking the lyrica.

So to sum up my expirence. It seemed like once i stood up after the 2 hours everything started to go bad. Although i didnt get sick and was able to shake off the panic attack. The off balance seemed too intesnse to be considered a fun recreational feeling, but higher mood and better aleep seemed to be pretty good for a drug thats not a benzo or narcotic. I also took into account that although i didnt find that pregbalin has any negative reactions with my other medications i thought they might be the reason for having the unpleasant reaction. So thats my input i dont want people to take my expirence as their guide. Just want people to know my expirence with the drug being on the medications that i am.

I peronally wont be trying it again, but i can say i dont regret trying it for the better of the community and my understanding.

Re: Pregabalin (Lyrica)

I think a few things that are not yet mentioned in this thread should be said about pregabalin. First off, even though 75mg is the pretty standard dose for which this medication is prescribed for its intended purposes, it still comes as capsules as low as 25mg. So when trying this substance for the first time (it should also be noted that there have been reported allergic reactions to pregabalin so doing an allergy test with a very low dose is also adviced), it should be well adivised to not take more than 75mg so that you get at least some sense of how higher dosages could probably feel like (as the feelings that pregabalin produces are quite unique). Also, as already stated in this topic, even low doses of pregabalin can greatly reduce motor coordination, so going to a club to dance at high dosages is pretty much off the menu.

The other thing (and this is probably the most important thing) is that even though pregabalin is used also as an epilepsy medication and has anticonvulsant effects with lower dosages, with high dosages it can and does actually cause convulsions. As far as I know, there is no established limit as to where this becomes a very probable outcome (compare for example to tramadol's 400mg/day considered a safe dose not to be exceeded) but the highest recommended dose to be prescribed (according to the European Medicines Agency) is 600mg/day and the dose is titrated to that slowly during weeks of use. Personally I would'nt go over the arbitrary one gram (1 000mg) a day limit. So if you reach a point where that dose is not satisfying anymore then stop using or taper off pregabalin as with tramadol apparently the tolerance to the pleasurable effects of pregabalin has most likely no effect on the seizure threshold lowering effects.

Re: Pregabalin (Lyrica)

SWIM likes to take 150-300mg of lyrica with weed every now and then, he says it enhances the psychedelic aspect of the high. Last time SWIM did it he was staring at a wall for a while and could swear the texture was moving and morphing into different shapes. After doing this for a couple days in a row, SWIM began to notice that the lyrica had a tendency to give him absence seizures throughout the day, this is usually around the time SWIM decides to discontinue use.

Ok I am prescribed 300mg 3x a day for my seizure disorder by my neurologist so I suggest you get your facts straight about dosages and it causing convulsions. Granted abusing anything I'm sure can cause a variety of symptoms. You define are off base on that testimonial.

Re: Pregabalin (Lyrica)

Well, as I said, there is no established "safe dose" for Lyrica but the recommended maximum daily dose by the European Medicines Agency is 600 mg/day. Of course that is just a recomendation and just because your doctor has established that in your case the positives of a higher dose outweigh the risks (and you didn't even mention whether it was in combination with other medication) doesn't mean that it's a safe dose for everybody. As I already said, even though lower doses prevent seizures, higher doses can and do cause them. That is just a fact. It doesn't mean that high doses will cause them everytime or even often, just that they can (same as with tramadol) and there is currently no way of knowing which dose can be considered as safe.

edit Here's Pfizer's own labeling information which tells that the maximum daily recommended dose is 600 mg/day

You aren't an expert just because you have been prescribed pregabalin and use it yourself.

There are anecdotal reports of people convulsing while on high doses of pregabalin, so badly that they fall over and hit the ground.

I have noticed that when I get up to doses near 1000 mg that I can't type as well because my fingers sometimes twitch and hit keys that I don't mean to hit.

He pointed out that pregabalin is an anticonvulsant, but still, there are anecdotal reports of people convulsing on high doses of pregabalin. Maybe "convulsion" isn't the right word. Maybe they're myoclonic spasms or something, but it is something that has been reported on high doses of pregabalin. I've seen maybe a handful of reports so I don't believe it is at all common, but it certainly would be something to be mindful of.

Re: Pregabalin (Lyrica)

Petri6 is correct. Pregabalin, as well as other gabapentinoids, can cause convulsions. Especially in OD's.

Notice that it is only approved for as an ADD-ON treatment for PARTIAL-ONSET seizures. It is not approved for Generalized Epilepsy. It is not very effective in treating other types and specifically worsens myoclonic seizure disorders.

Anecdotal: I had a handful of myoclonic seizures after prescribed only 150mg/day for nerve pain. BIG jerks would drop me on the floor.

I had a generalized tonic clonic seizure about a week later with no prior history. An epilepsy neurologist later told us that the tonic clonic was a result of several myoclonic seizures that eventually generalized into a tonic clonic.

Quote: "This is why we do not like using Lyrica to treat most kinds of epilepsy, because paradoxical worsening of seizures is common."

Take away: YES pregabalin can cause seizures, particularly in predisposed individuals, even in low doses. Play at your own risk. It is hard to distinguish between normal non-epileptic myoclonic jerks and myoclonic seizures. Besides spikes on an EEG they will both clinically look similar even to a trained eye.

If you mess with Lyrica my suggestion is to not go crazy with 1 gram+ doses. You're asking for trouble. Stay lowish and obviously don't freakin drive/swim/skydive or whatever so you don't die.
