The hardest thing I have ever had to do ......

After 5-6 years of Meth use (pipe, non I-V user) SWIM discovered that he had himself a huge problem.

After a few attempts to quit, SWIM now finds himself 2 and a bit months clean.

SWIM attend N.A meetings, do as much as he can to avoid Triggers, has cut all users out of my life. I am back on Anti-depressants and another med to help even his head out though I notice SWIM is still withdrawing on a regular basis.

Can any other successful amp users offer SWIM some further advice, coping strategies etc?

You're doing good so far. I know it's hard. Perhaps see a therapist or psychiatrist that specialises in addictions? You just have to try to get through each day. Take care of yourself, self help books can help a lot too, relaxing music etc. Good luck!

Good job man ! I know its very hard quitting meth and the everyday depression that follows is an easy excuse to relapse but please dont ! It will go away with time I guarantee you ! also me I find that anti depressants always worsened my depression so you might consider trying alternatives.. but if they do help dont stop them ! wishing you luck man

My circumstance for quitting was unique, but as I had said in another post, it's time to find what you lost back before you started. There had to have been likes you had before you started, those same likes can still be there.

You should also see a psychiatrist the meth could be hiding an underlying issue or emotions you havent delt with in the past.Is it a coping mechanism for you?man two months sober is a huge step and something to be proud of!

Re: The hardest thing I have ever had to do ......

Good work so far.... SWIM went to rehab for 5 months and stayed clean for almost a year, SWIM knows its tough staying clean. SWIM's advice is to keep busy for the first few months, makee commitments and start new activities and interests. Make sure you express yourself when things are going bad for you emotionally/mentally- that's usually when a relapse can happen. Learn about your triggers, behaviours and patterns that you seem to repeat in these situations and find new ways of handling them instead of turning to drugs. Find ways to comfort yourself when you need and how to feel safe when anxious/worried/stressed. Hope this helps just a few things SWIMs learnt
