Dear Drugs-Forum readers: We are a small non-profit that runs one of the most read drug information & addiction help websites in the world. We serve over 3 million readers per month, and have costs like all popular websites: servers, hosting, licenses and software. To protect our independence we do not run ads. We take no government funds. We run on donations which average $25. If everyone reading this would donate $5 then this fund raiser would be done in an hour. If Drugs-Forum is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online another year by donating whatever you can today. Donations are currently not sufficient to pay our bills and keep the site up. Your help is most welcome. Thank you.
SWIM wants to know if there is any test to determine the actual percentage purity of Crystal Meth. SWIM doesn't think acetone, water tests etc are accurate enough. Nor does SWIM think that just by smoking it can determine actual percentage.
SWIM would like to know if anyone has developed a step by step tried and tested mehod for determining actual percentage give or take a few percentage points.
SWIM thanks all in advance. And reminds people search has already been utilized.
The chemical purity of any substance can be tested. Water, for instance can be tested. Methamphetamine is relatively large molecule compared to water. Therefore the chemical testing process is very intricate. One could heat the meth to the point that it breaksdown and produces gas, contain the gas then analyze the gases that are produced. C10 H15 N The gases should be composed of those. Simple math, divide the number of the elements in meth by the elements detected in the gas. Divide that number by the total number of the gas and that is the percentage.
Or if the person who cooked it has a basic knowledge of chemistry they could predict the chemical reaction using the chemical formula for each ingredient thereby predicting a chemical equation.
What the fuck? like anyone doing meth would have the equipment or knowledge to perform such a task? meth is water solube, so drop a peice of it in water, and any solid that remains in the liquid after its done dissolving ISNT meth.
Thats not a scientific way, but it'll give you an idea of how much was meth and how much wasnt.
Try weighing it before and after?
definitely not 100% accurate method of measure, because some cutting agents are bound to be water soluble too
Only way to SWIMS knowledge is to observe. Look closely at the texture, pure crystal is very clear and any offwhite or specs are signs of cutting agents, to get rid start cooking and let it smoke up abit lightly blow to get rid of the smoke, agents will heat up faster.
Also since meth is water soluble you could throw in a shard into a small amount of water, and swims talking about 1ml of water. anything insoluble is rubbish which can be filtered with a coffee filter, SWIM is not sure how to revert back into a snort/smokable form, probably evaporate, or just snort the ml.
