Dear Drugs-Forum readers: We are a small non-profit that runs one of the most read drug information & addiction help websites in the world. We serve over 3 million readers per month, and have costs like all popular websites: servers, hosting, licenses and software. To protect our independence we do not run ads. We take no government funds. We run on donations which average $25. If everyone reading this would donate $5 then this fund raiser would be done in an hour. If Drugs-Forum is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online another year by donating whatever you can today. Donations are currently not sufficient to pay our bills and keep the site up. Your help is most welcome. Thank you.
Yeah, DXM seems to come on slower for me than other drugs. Back in my syrup drinking days, it could take as long as 2+ hours. Especially if I'd eaten recently. So if it was gel-caps that you took, then that's probably pretty normal.
I've also noticed that the DXM come-up really tends to sneak up on me... I won't really be noticing any effects, and then all of a sudden
I'll realize that I'm full-blown disassociated.
If it's been awhile and you're not feeling anything, get up and walk around a little, even though you probably won't feel like it. When you're coming up, it'll feel like you're really drunk.

Doesn't DXM fry the occipital cortex region of the brain? I tried it once a while backand I could literally feel so many brain cells dying which sucked cuz Im a straight A student, hopefully it didnt screw me up. But my vision was all screwy and your occipital region coordinates some of your vision...I just want to know for sure if this stuff actually has long term side effects on the brain which I think it does.
If you do it evey day, of course it's going to screw you up. But if you use DXM moderately and responsibly, you shouldn't notice any negative effects.I useit at the mostonce, maybetwice a month, and my grades haven't dropped... and I'm in all AP/honors classes. Other than the theory -and it's only a theory- about Olney's Lesions, there hasn't been any sufficient evidence linking DXM to brain damage. So just be responsible, and you should be okay.
I've talked to people who used dxm really
heavily for extended periods of time. (Like, once a day for a
period of years). From what i've gathered from those
conversations, some of them feel they've experienced mental
damage from dxm (sporadic twitching), while others claim not to have
experienced any adverse effects.
Personally, I assume that if somebody who did dxm daily for a couple of
years came out fine, it's more than safe enough in moderation.
Granted, until some kind of long term study is done, it's hard to tell

I ended up going to ger at about t+4h with a little head buzz not like pot or alcohol a slight bit of a body buzz. to me it seems like a whole lotta antisipation just to be let down.
Yeah, that definitely isn't normal... although your extraction might of been off, here's another possibility for you:
After you ingest the DXM, it is normally converted into DXO by the P450-2D6 liver enzyme. However, around 5-10% of people have a
version of the enzyme that works extremely slow, and doesn't efficiently metabolize DXM to DXO. Also, a lot of other drugs (primarily antidepressants) will inhibit this enzyme as well. Since DXO is what causes disassociation and intoxicating effects, it kind of sounds like this could be your problem. Try eating Robo Gel Caps w/o trying to do an extraction (or drink syrup... ick), anything to make damn sure you're really getting a certain amount of DXM, and see if you get the same results.
I don't really think there's a whole lot you can do if you happen to belong to the population with inefficient P450-2D6's.

I wish I could find robo gels I can't find them here in Canada or
Dexalone dammit. The thin strips are so expencive. I am

cause the businsess he is in to try to get soe pharm grade power. hehe
would love that
Word of advice. Stop using anything robitussin or gel cap. There is a syrup called "Delsym" which contains only DXM. Its pretty much made for abuse. The bottle itself is shaped like a little 5th if you get the "tall boy". Drink one of these and all your dxm problems will be answered. I promise.

Why did you extract from Delsym... I'm curious?

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
It will depend on many factors. If you try on an empty stomache, it will begin quicker. For me, On a relatively empty stomache, I begin to feel drunk at 30 minutes. At an hour, the room starts spinning. After about an hour and a half or less the full effects begin such as audio and visual hallucinations and confusion. I did 600mg recently and that is what I am basing my info on. I posted the experience of you are interested. Good luck and know your limits.
