The timerelease is not because of the molecule size or because of the wax coating. It has to do with whats inside the pill im not sure if we fully understand the timerelease mechanism of brand name oxy because of patent laws but Im positive Its an internal system in the pill. For example anyone here who has sucked the wax off then swallowed the pill whole will report no difference from taking a pill whole, coating intact. Now take the wax off crush then eat it and that person would feel a quite noticeable difference. How could an outer coating keep the whole pill from dissolving when its the first thing your stomach eats away at? The logics not there.
Edit: To answer a previous question You just crush the pill you want to snort lay it out and inhale theres no need to hold anything in someones nose. Swims never experienced that much material that he could do that even when he snorted 80 mgs oxycontins, so maybe a swimmer with alot of material is sniffing oxycodone
