Piracetam a good replacement for amphetamines?

Its clear to SWIM that he has 1 foot in the grave as long as he keeps taking dexedrine. Its entirely SWIMs fault for being irresponsible and giving into every impulse to take more. SWIM thinks piracetam may just be what he needs. SWIM doesn't need any mood boost since hes naturally in a good mood. Although dexedrine is a wonder drug SWIM thinks its perfect for getting monotonous tasks done but it makes SWIM a bit too focused for learning. Has anyone here tested out piracetam as a substitute?

Re: Piracetam a good replacement for amphetamines?

Piracetam will help with learning and focus, and swim has found it helps him live in a more healthy manner (he goes to bed earlier, he eats properly etc) - albeit only a little.

There is however absolutely no high from piracetam...you mostly will not even feel it working. So...is it a replacement for dexedrine? No. Should you stop taking dexedrine anyway? Probably.

Maybe deprenyl (selegiline citrate) would be of more help. You couldn't take dexedrine while on that though. Here is a discussion https://drugs-forum.com/forum/sho...ght=Selegiline

Re: Piracetam a good replacement for amphetamines?

I would say that Piracetam is a great replacement as long as SWIY actually discontinues his amphetamine use. I have read about the potentiating effects of Piracetam and I speculate that using it in conjunction with an amphetamine may potentially destroy one's appreciation for it's effects when taken by itself. I suggest SWIY take a couple of weeks off any kind of chemical "enhancement" before beginning Piracetam supplementation.

For the record, I don't believe using amphetamines as a Nootropic is a responsible thing to do as there is very limited sustainability as well as a high potential of forming an abusive habit. SWIM went through some tough times in the past and is now doing just fine with Piracetam. He is very pleased with it and feels much better about what it is doing to his mind & body.

Re: Piracetam a good replacement for amphetamines?

piracetam and dexedrine are not comparable at all imo
piracetam is like a vitamin, you wont even "feel" it working
modafinil is a decent replacement, and is less likely to cause dependency

Dracula is a decent psychonaut.
Re: Piracetam a good replacement for amphetamines?

Piracetam is probably not a good replacement as SWIY will find many other posters here agree that the effects are extremely subtle and some even recommend skipping it completely and going right to one of the more powerful ones, in order of power boost from Piracetam, Oxiracetam, Aniracetam, and Pramiracetam being the most powerful.
