Methadone withdrawal. Trying again. - Part 14

I've heard good and bad/pros and cons about them. It's really controversial actually. (Just do your own research I'd say). I think it all depends on the person.

I just know Methadone's never agreed with my system myself, and at even higher doses I couldn't stand the damn side-effects either. Hell even at 15mgs a day, once that beginning honeymoon phase went away I was left feeling like total and complete shit, just some empty shell (especially because I've been on it before). So I want off.

And I wouldn't say my experience is all peaches and cream lol. I can't even listen to my old music anymore at this point. I was having severe chest pain or anxiety this morning too. And hell no it ain't easy lol. This is Opiate withdrawal. Worst of the worst.

I'm pretty sick of being curled up in a ball on my bed too. If I didn't have family, I don't know how I'd still be here. I love my family!

And let's just say I'm beyond pissed off. Lol.

    Hope you feel better soon.
If it makes you feel better, I'm hurting inside too.

And sorry you had to quit your job. So did I a long while back.

I honestly can't believe I haven't teared up yet. That's as real as it gets. I hate Opiate withdrawal. It's so confusing.

The only thing that helps right now sometimes is looking back really to where I was or how much harder it was before.

It's hard being stuck in the dumps.

Such a fuckin huge migraine right now to. And I literally can't move today.

Hey Natey just checking on you. Just keep reminding yourself it will get better and that you have the courage to succeed. And your not alone we are right here with you! Watch motivational videos when you feel like your being defeated. They help me anyway. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks for me and if I can get here you can to.
    Be well,

What paregoric said. I've been lurking around these parts after a few weeks (?) off... sometimes I just get huge inspiration and positive vibes when reading about how people fight... struggle, and WIN. Marie and Natey, I hope you both do, in fact, WIN. It's just a bit arbitrary, lotta grey areas in there, the whole jazz, the "life without any opiates" (let alone "life without ANY meds/help from a pill bottle"!)

Oh my. I'm not making any sense, am I? :)

    Anyway:

Rooting for you both, and everyone else reading this going through hard times.
    Peace,
    NM

That's the idea...get by without anything. Which when put into action is far more difficult than it sounds

Very good question. I have a similar one.

I'm coming off 20mg of methadone daily that I've been on for 6 months. I'm using tramadol (Ultram). I was wondering if anyone had any advice or thoughts on how I'm doing the dosage. Currently I'm going by what a treatment center I've gone to before for opioid detox did for me while I was there 6-7 days each time.

    Day 1 (around 8pm, starting close to 29 hrs since last methadone dose) : 3 50mg tablets. Day 2: 3 50mg pills in morning, 3 at lunch, 2 at bedtime. Day 3: 3 50mg morning, 2 at lunch, 2 at bedtime. Day 4: 2 50mg pills morning, 2 lunch, 2 bedtime. Day 5: 2 morning, 1 lunch, 1 bedtime. Day 6: 1 in morning, 1 lunch, 1 dinner. Day 7: 1 morning, 1 bedtime.

Haven't figured out the rest yet. Probably on day 8 I would do 1 in morning and then that's it. If I can handle it, that is. I'm a chronic pain patient. Go to a pain do for for this. I don't know what I'm going to take for pain yet, just wanted to try getting off this now as opposed to later. I hear this medicine is dangerous and I have a 5 yr old at home. My vision isn't good and ice dropped a few pills before. I think I have always found them but I'm afraid my daughter will find one and think it's a mint. I know that one pill can cause severe respiratory depression and kill young children AND adults without narcotic tolerance/dependence.

Is my method something anyone has heard before and if a doctor/nurse/APN could answer me and tell me what formulas using ultram they've encountered that would be fantastic. Thank you.

The thing about tramadol is they consider it to also be habit forming. If you go to pain management this would be a good discussion topic. Methadone would be fatal to a 5 year old. People who take it who have kids absolutely need a lock box. Coming off methadone is rough. Clonidine is indicated in all opiate withdrawal. I've found it to be mildly helpful.

Thanks for all the replies. And sorry I haven't been on here in a while. I've been going through a lot of shit.

I remember someone telling me now that Clonidine fills the opiate receptors actually. Not sure if it's actually true or not. Clonidine interacts really weird with me for some reason. Can even be kinda scary.
