Quitting Oxycodone with Loperamide- My story begins... - Part 175

  1. Cmenot,

Yes, I failed to recognize the symptoms too until I began to think about dying. My depression was actually a fairly normal response to my life falling financially apart plus coping with my husband's mental health issues as well. As our marriage tanked, I knew that it wasn't all one sided. Relationships never are...it is a dance really. My depression mirrored his!

I think many people hooked on opiates actually had the depression first. We used it to try and treat our emotional hurt. Then of course this made things worse with time. It is all so very complicated.

For me the most exciting part is having my energy and zest for life return. I am so very excited about that. I have always been a person who can go, go ,go...and my get up and go...well it got up and went!!! LOL I have NEVER been so exhausted in my life. I have only been on the SNRI for 2 weeks and a full blood level take 4-6 weeks plus I am on a very low dose. This means things will continue to improve. Also, the initial side effects I was getting have resolved. I have had no more sweating nor fatigue. It does make me sleepy so I take it one hour before bed and am sleeping like a rock.

Treating depression can and does change everything.

    Hi JD,
Thank you SO much for all the wonderful information. I just love that you're focusing on health - mental/physical and nutrition topics for the new year. Thanks to you I am inspired and purchased a NutriBullet and am loading up on greens and seeds and fruits and recipes. I am truly amazed at your transformation over these past several months. When I first started reading your journal I was hoping that when I finished you would still be on line and fortunately for me and many, many others you still are - going strong and better than ever. How inspirational. Thank you.

I hope it's ok to post a few of my tapering questions on your thread? I'm not at the point yet where I feel comfortable doing my own recovery journal. If so, I promise to keep it to a minimum.

I am starting my drug taper today from oxycodone. My Dr said to cut my pills in half and take those instead of whole pills and so on as my taper. That seemed a bit too extreme for me so I'm decreasing by 30% rather than 50%. Normal dose is 45mg/a day so today I'm doing 30mg.

My last detox was cold turkey and a true nightmare. I am hoping this will be a less painful way. I don't really know when to take my loperamide, clonodine and hydroxyzine. I also got some gabapentin. Did you take yours when you started to feel withdrawals or before?

Hey is it too late to book a room at JayDee's Detox by the Sea?
