Quitting Oxycodone with Loperamide- My story begins... - Part 35

  1. GDW,

Thanks for your support. I honestly came here with the intent of doing a slow controlled taper off loperamide. I got some pretty strong negative feedback about the dangers of loperamide so that I tapered hard. Harder honestly than I believe I needed to. While I understand the risks, the real risk with loperamide is in staying on it at high doses for a long time and failing to taper. This is just my opinion. I could be all wrong but honestly I did not have trouble tapering it and other than constipation had no side effects either.

Anyhow, now that I have ended up tapering much quicker than anticipated, I will be here bitching!!! Lol. I want off. Period. So I will do my best to see that this happens while still managing to work!

    Hugs,
    JD

Good luck today. I have no idea what jumping off will feel like for you but it seems like you wouldn't be doing it if you didn't think it would be ok. Something tells me that when we get to the lower numbers in our tapers- that may be when the MIND is controlling us more than the physical but I know its different for everyone. Ill be thinking about you today!!

You're absolutely right JBM. It's all mind games at the end of a taper. Your brain is well aware that you're about to go pill free and that scares it. It's hard to control the brain completely. Especially for an addict. We like to think that we're in complete control and the idea of being not that way frightens us.

I know that the end of my taper was much harder than any other part. Once I jumped it became easier but those last few days on suboxone I felt like crap.

Do what feels right JD. Don't rush. You know that I'll be here supporting you no matter what decision you make. If you have to up your kratom then so be it. When you jump off loperamide you'll only have one substance to focus on rather than two and that makes things a bit easier.

Much love and hugs. Hope you have an amazing day hon.
