The Drug Users Bible is the successor to The Honest Drug Book, and represents a significant extension in both content and scope.

It is a journey through over 150 psychoactives, both chemical and botanical, each of which was self-administered by the author. For each drug, it lists the fundamental and sometimes life-critical information, including the onset, common threshold doses, and anticipated period of efficacy. It presents the facts and the truth about a subject which touches the lives of almost everyone, and cuts directly through the rhetoric and propaganda of the war on drugs.

It also documents the personal and subjective experience of each drug, including those which were sometimes excessively uncomfortable. These reports are extremely important, as they identify possible pitfalls and enable an assessment of the degree to which rational control is maintained or lost.

In addition to these often rich and lengthy reports the book is crammed with general information, including relative harm tables, addiction/overdose advice, legal briefings, and even travel advice. The book itself is illustrated with hundreds of photographs, including of the drugs themselves.

The scope also extends beyond the most common categories of hallucinogens, stimulants, depressants, dissociatives and opioids. Included, for example, are nootropics and oneirogenics (dream herbs).

Emphasised throughout is harm reduction and personal safety. This guides the entire narrative. Included, for example, is instruction on how to identity test drugs, and a range of structured safety procedures and guides.

No punches were pulled in the writing of this book. It is crafted with an honesty which is sometimes brutal, and the author confronts social issues and the war on drugs directly:

People are dying because of ignorance. They are dying because unremitting propaganda is denying them vital safety information. They are dying because legislators and the media are censoring the science, and are ruthlessly pushing an ideological agenda instead. They are dying because the first casualty of war is truth, and the war on drugs is no different.”

This is a book that won’t only fascinate and inform the casual reader: it will ameliorate suffering and save lives.
