1. Dear Drugs-Forum readers: We are a small non-profit that runs one of the most read drug information & addiction help websites in the world. We serve over 4 million readers per month, and have costs like all popular websites: servers, hosting, licenses and software. To protect our independence we do not run ads. We take no government funds. We run on donations which average $25. If everyone reading this would donate $5 then this fund raiser would be done in an hour. If Drugs-Forum is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online another year by donating whatever you can today. Donations are currently not sufficient to pay our bills and keep the site up. Your help is most welcome. Thank you.

Effects of the cannabinoid receptor agonist, HU 210, on ingestive behaviour and body weight of rats

  1. helikophis
The effect of the synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonist, y 11-hydroxy-D -tetrahydrocannabinol-dymethylheptyl HU 210 , on rat body weight and eating and drinking behaviour was examined. In Experiment 1, the drug 25, 50 or 100 m grkg , sub-chronically administered for 4 days, produced a dose- and time-dependent loss of body weight that, at the highest dose, was not regained by 7 days after the drug was stopped, and remained markedly below that of vehicle-treated animals. In Experiment 2, food and water intakes, which were evaluated in fasted rats, tested as in Experiment 1, were significantly inhibited only by the dose of 100 m grkg, and this effect was still present 7 days after the last injection of the drug. The possibility that the effects observed are not directly dependent on the control of appetite and might be ascribable to stress-related phenomena is discussed.
