Hi everyone, today I discovered that I may have to switch to 10/325 Hydrocodone, from 10/500 Hydrocodone. I am aware that the main difference is the amount of APAP that each pill contains. What I know is the Acetaminophen when combined with Hydrocodone, produces a synergist effect. This means that the efficacy is increased and both drugs work better and for a longer time then if they were given alone.

This is why this medication does have such a risk for potential. The question I am asking is this, "Does anyone have any experience with the 10/325? I was perscribed some about 2 yrs ago. (I took them for about two weeks). For me they did not seem to work as well, or last as long as the 10/500. I was disappointed because even though they had the same amount of Hydrocodone, to me, they just didn't cut it. I had breakthrough pain, you name it, GI issues, just in 24 hours of switching.

Any feedback would be appreciated, I only take them as directed, so that is my basis for comparison. (Orally) The only ones I have tried (both kinds) were the Watson brand 10/325, 10/500. Thanks for your input.

Well, the only difference (I can think of) is the reduced dosage of APAP/paracetamol from 500mg to 325mg. This really shouldn't have any bearing on the analgesic effect of your medication unless you're concerned about the missing APAP, and how that may have significant consequences.

I feel that addressing your misgivings to your presciber may yield better results (regarding their decision) than we can here.

It does feel, though, that you might be more concerned about the brand and whether or not the hydrocodone will be as effective for you as it was.

For anyone who has pain management needs, this seems to be a perfectly valid inquiry.

Would it be permissible for you to contact your doctor, and just ask them?

I'm sure there will be more members responding to your post.

I hope that whatever happens, you will be safe and comfortable.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I am concerned with the brand, I have had pain issues for years, RA runs in my family and I seem to be at the age...anyway, for me, That brand is the only one that works for me, I am able to take as directed when i use this brand. If not, I feel I am throwing my money away and I may as well just eat sugar cubes. (although they were great as a kid!) I have really disciplined myself and do whatever I can to help my pain, sometimes MJ will help with that.

We have several pharmacies where I live, and they carry the brand. It costs the same as others but for my personally is much more effective. I can manage my doses and 9 times outta 10 I make it the entire month and I have managed to keep my tolerance as low as possible. (I still feel it at times, some days more then others). Thank you for allowing my post, and I look forward to others and their experience.

I have been on various doses of hydro for the last 3 years. 10/325 is the best one I have taken as far as effect. It gives me the most pain relief and the least amount of side effects. I have a high tolerance so I usually have to take more than 1 and my body just feels gross when I take too much acetaminophen.

The different between the effect of the two is going to be minimal. An additional 175mg of APAP isnt going to provide any additional relief.

So I've been on hydrocodone for 5 years and developing a tolerance and think 3 10/325s are as high as the PM docs will go for me. I read about kratom and wondering if I can take both safely with goal of tapering off the lortab.? I read one post that it's not safe to do both. So what to do?
