Is this a psychedelic?
Is this good?
I doubt it. Can't find any mention of it.
It is certainly a precursor for many TIHKAL substances
5-Methoxytryptamine has been proposed as a potentiator for sedative drugs, but by itself it has no activity to mention. It is not a psychedelic. I have worked with it many times in my lab as a precursor for such things as beta-carbolines. However for synthesizing dialkyl tryptamines one would use 5-Methoxyindole instead if one were looking to form 5-Methoxy dialkyl derivatives.
well yes the purest way to make dialkyltryptamines is thru the indoles but shulgin also used the tryptamine routeextensively to come up with the same dialkyl derivatives, just not as pure IMHO. probably because it is the easier route, just a one step rxn.
