Discussion in 'Concerta & Ritalin' started by weazelzb, Feb 8, 2005.
wat are the different highs like? are they
compareable or quite different?
It all depends on your body chemistry and how you react to each. Of
course, all are stimulants, but they each do have their own
characteristics. Ritalin and Concerta are the same drug, but Concerta
is a time released pill. Plus, are you taking them for add or as speed?
I was diagnosed with adhd and I tried Concerta, but the side effects
were too much. I would get a headache and feel generally shitty and
zoned out. Adderall, which I am taking now, does not make me feel like
shit. It's definitely has a little more edge to it as well. I have been
taking them as prescribed for the most part, but its only been a week
and at quite a low dosage. I worry about the inevitable addiction for
using it everyday. Back to your question, everyone reacts differently
to each. Check out the effect list on Erowid for a general view.
Ritalin and Concerta (both methylphenidate) have similar effects on the brain but their primary differences lie in strength, dosing and duration.
Concerta has a duration of 10 - 12 hours, long-releasing the substance.
Ritalin is short-acting, increasing the neurotransmitters quickly, so the users usually take more pills in the day. Ritalin SR (intermediate acting) and LA (long acting) are similiar but not as long as Concerta. LA has a duration of 6-8 hours.
Concerta has too much side effects, most users don't get really high. The Ritalin high comes in 30 min and lasts for 1-2 hours.
Adderall is similiar, the duration is about 2-3 hours, the high sets in about 30 min too, but the substance isn't Methylphenidate, is a mixture of various salts of the two amphetamine stereoisomers, most dextroamphetamine.
They act in a similar way, but actually just Ritalin and Adderall are used recreationally.
The high (Ritalin and Adderall) are basically: more focus, attention, motivation, energy, sometimes euphoria etc. Which will work better for you depends on your body.
