if you're on buspar (antianxiety) can you get drunk?

.Alcohol does not interact in a dangerous manner with Buspirone( BuSpar ) and Buspirone ( BuSpar ) may be useful in reducing alcohol craving. While formal studies of the interaction of BUSPAR with alcohol indicate that BUSPAR does not increase alcohol-induced impairment in motor and mental performance, it is prudent to avoid concomitant use of alcohol and BUSPAR. [SIZE=-1]Although BuSpar does not intensify the effects of alcohol, it is best to avoid alcohol while taking BuSpar. ([SIZE=-1]www.pdrhealth.com/drug_info/rxdrugprofiles/drugs/bus1059.shtml).

"In laboratory studies in healthy volunteers, buspirone in doses up to 20 mg did not potentiate the psychomotor impairment produced by relatively modest doses of alcohol. However, decreased contentedness or dysphoria was observed with a combination of alcohol and a 20 mg single dose of buspirone. Since no data are available on concomitant use of higher doses of buspirone and alcohol, it is prudent to advise patients to avoid alcohol during buspirone therapy."

I know about this subject personally and this may not apply to all people but I was on buspirone about five years ago and was drinking vodka one night,to make a long story short I got a crippling migraine and vomited blood. Not sure if this is normal or the two were related but I would reccommend not mixing them.
