Can I use a dehydrator to dry weed?
Rather dry it natural, in the shade. I tried it once, tastes horrible, buds was real crumbly. Sucked the moisture out too quick.
If your really in a hurry using a food dehydrator is probably the best possible option. However, do consider old_hippies reply, the weed WILL taste and smell a hell of a lot better if left to dry naturally for at least a week or two and will taste much better again for every month that you cure it.
Swia found always best way of drying is to have a peg ring it has clothes pegs going round this is then hung in a dark area, with a fan on a light setting with breeze to the buds to keep air circulation to prevent mould, keeping an eye on temp . the buds are hung from the pegs after all the major fan leaves are removed the small leafs are left to protect the buds.all thou they can be removed after 8 days depending on the 'snap' noise consistancy of the stem as a test.. Then move on to cure in a clean glass jar opening every so often to let air , this is repeated to however long the persons taste or when they wanna get wrecked . a years cure is lovely if u can wait that long.. suppose what else is around..
also there are a number of different ways to dry. some people use boxes with newspapers, or brown paper bags to dry. Do NOT Dry in direct sunlight or with light at all as it does degrade the thc and other trichrome goodies.
Them plastic kitchen strainers with a lid works great for curing also. If the humidity is high, like in swims part of the world, throw in a couple of them dessicant packages.
SWIM prefers to dry weed in a small wooden or tin box with a lid. It takes time but it produces good results. It's good to shake the weed around once a day just in case mould appears.
i suppose that might work but i suggets using a blow dryer or just hanging them in ur closet for a few days that is a method that always seems to work
Hair dryer? dont think so, yeh i suppose why not if your in a hurry to get dry crappy tasting bud why not.
Parchment paper is also another way of drying bud when placed in wooden boxes or cardboard boxed gently moving them like Nature boy said to distribute moisture.
Re: weed drying?
First, hang the whole plant upside down in a dark ventilated place for some
3 or 4 days. Next, take the plant apart branch for branch, and roll 2 or 3 of
them branches together in a newspaper roll. Like this it will dry slowly.
Just don't put those newspaper rolls somewhere moist, you could get mold.
That could happen too if the branches are still too wet before you roll 'em up
in the newspaper.
After a few weeks, the weed will be ready to smoke or tu cure even further.
When really impacient, put a small quantity very close under a common 40W lamp.
