I mean - that's darn fast. Jack found dead at the park. Needle still in his arm. Randall - open the car door and out tumbles a dead randall, needle still in his arm. Friday morning, Russ, found dead in his apartment, needle still in his arm. Now these are just the ones THIS month.

I mean, I wouldn't have thought anything could get from the vein in your arm to your (heart or brain?) so fast that you didn't even have time to remove the needle. I mean really?!

Now, I'm trying to think of this medically - you know, think it through out loud so others might be able to figure out a way to avoid it.

So if it breathing that stops in an OD, killing a person... it seems to me the H would have to have time to go in the vein, to the brain, ACT in the brain to stop the breathing. How can all that happen so fast? It don't make sence.

it happens. swim doesn't know the medical reason behind it but has woken up several times with the needle still in or a trail of dried blood and the needle on the floor or couch from falling out.

although this doesn't happen the majority of times. its fairly rare.

BUT when swim first shot liquid ketamine, it hit her so fast she literally could barely pull the needle out and this was with trying really hard.

Sometimes after swim shoots he leaves the needle in his arm just for a little bit specially if he has to run and get a napkin or tissue to clean up his arm. Swim has a needle fixation though which probably adds to that logic.

    Wow. I'm in awe. Seriously.
So, what happened to her? I mean, when she woke up, was that the end of it or was there still a buzz left?

Trust me (not counting use of a IV bag)you would be unconcius before you could administer a lethal dose of ketimine.

It doesn't kill you instantly, rather the person just nodded off immediately and then died sometime later.

well when swim has woken up with a needle in her arm (from heroin) she'll usually realize it when she kind of comes out of a nod, then she'll take it out and nod out again.

the IV ketamine thing was the strangest feeling because she felt its effects instantly, the moment the first say third of it was in, so by the time it was all in she could barely move at all. she really didn't like it much but her friends loved it. she had two friends that shot up ketamine mixed with speed which she didn't want to do because she thought that sounded dangerous and not fun and was way past her days of liking speed anymore anyways.

east_of_eden added 2 Minutes and 45 Seconds later...

swim doesn't know what the dose was but it was in one of those hospital (or in this case vetrinarian) bottles of drugs where you stick the needle in the top and draw it back into the syringe.

This is completely accurate. Swim has overdosed himself and seen many other people overdose as well. He has only overdosed on fentanyl, but even with such a fast acting opioid he nodded into an unconscious state before his breathing slowed to a stop. He is pretty sure that he only left the needle in his arm the one time that he required medical attention.

swim is confused on what people would consider an overdose. she always thought an "overdose" was something that you either died from or someone was there or found you in time to call the paramedics and so the person was okay.

nodding out (with or without a needle in your arm) but then coming to later isn't an overdose, right?

Swim thinks maybe they're just enjoying the 'rush' then nod out and it's game over.

I'm counting on that. I just have to be sure I know where I'm going, and exactly how to get there!

So that's like - her bucks were spent on nap time. Drag.

    Yeah... that question...
So nodding out is a normal part? Or nodding out = your friend had too much?

It all really depends. SWIY can have a mild overdose and probably live although SWIY would be extremely lucky.

If swim goes, then this is the way he'd like to go. No time to worry about the people you're fucking over.

^swim used to feel like that too. she figured she would be doing them all a favour by dying.

THIS IS SO THE OPPOSITE TO HOW SHE FEELS NORMALLY.

would have been such a pity if she had died with those feelings, and never lived to have the opportunity to *know*, that she didnt wanna go out like that.
