    Hello Everyone,
I'm 18 and I just started experimenting with recreational drugs about two
months ago (I smoked my first joint in Sept.), and since I have smoked
about 25 times. I have had different qualities of weed, mostly the
"dankest", but lately I've been smoking mid-grades because of the cost
    efficiency.
So anyway, a couple nights ago I blazed 4 or 5 large bowls, and then did
shrooms, and nothing happened for 2 hours. Then, I was unbelievably
happy for about a half hour, just laughing at EVERYTHING and loving life
more than I ever have, and so I smoked another nice sized bowl and just
layed on my bed and enjoyed the ridiculous things I saw. Once the
happiness wore off, I got extremely
depressed and literally was the saddest I had been ever in my life. I just
thought a lot about the point of life and why we're all here (deep shit, I
know) and got really depressed. For the past day and a half I have
basically been sleeping and just doing nothing because of my sadness. I
have blazed once since taking shrooms. So, here's my question(s):

Is it normal for the "coming down" off of the euphoria of shrooms to be
depressing? As depressing as I described?

    Did weed enhance my sadness?

    Brutal honesty is welcome.

    Thanks for any replies,

It is not normal to become depressed from shrooms, but it does happen. Shrooms only intensify or dig upwhat's already there. If you have issues troubling you, chances are you will deal with them on the trip. Mushrooms are no recreational drugs. At least not purely.Have you ever had a depression or any other psychological problem?

Some people feel a little depressed the next day. Often taking some 5-HTP the next day helps.

This is common on any comedown, mostly the ones that actually have euphoria. The actual harshness of it varys from person to person for various reasons. Whenever you get high the brain releases all sorts of chemicals including serotonin, when the high is over your (depending greatly on the drug) there will be somewhat of a shortage of those chemicals. The shortage of serotonin i beleive is what will cause this mood swing. Bottom line... its a price that comes with many drugs.

That only counts for drugs, which release most of the available serotonin, not for reuptake inhibitors. When serotonin reuptake is inhibited the available serotonin has a much greater effect. Psychedelics like psilocin inhibit the reuptake of many neurotransmitters, thus intensifying any effect on those, resulting in a magnifying effect of the feelings related to those neurotransmitters.

Ohh ok, i guess most of what i said applies to amphetamines and E then. I do wonder though if after the inhibition of reuptake starts to fade, would this not flush out the chemicals they had stored in the brain, creating a somewhat similar effect?

I've had mushrooms make me extremely depressed before. I dont think it's the same as an e-comedown depression.

One day, did mushrooms out at Toronto Islands with my BF - had a great
day, lots of talking/laughing, on the subway ride home nearing the end
of the trip, I started to feel really blue - I felt so bored that it
hurt, I felt like my life was going no where, I felt lonley and
isolated - I just wanted to sit down and start crying, and got into
really negative thought-cycles that just wouldnt stop.

Got home, laid on my bed just wanting to die while waiting for the
mushrooms to wear off - for a few days after that, I was feeling a bit
down because of the 'issues' that were bought up while tripping.

Psychadelics can dig up some deep 'hidden' issues that you can have, and dealing with them can be a bit difficult.

any time my friends have had bad trips, all they have needed was a
change of scenery to change things up. it's hard to feel so bad when
you cant figure out what's going on.

on the bright side, one friend of mine had a terrible experience just a
couple weeks ago, but since i talked to him last he has come to terms
wth his issues and feels as though it has helped him out in the long
    run.

I have had a number of bad comedowns but I don't think this is what is supposed to happen because there have been great comedowns as well

If your thought process turns negative, it can turn your trip negative,
no matter what stage you're at (come-up, plateau, come-down...).
That's one reason why it's nice to trip with good friends - if I'm alone,
I tend to start overanalyzing my life which doesn't always end up good...
When others are around, it gives you something else to think about.

Sometimes the bad trips are even more helpful than the good trips. At the time, it can seem the end of the world, but you usually end up learning something (bad) about yourself.

I've done shrooms plenty of times and for awhile I would trip very often, a few days after the next in excessive amounts.

Thats when I went alittle shroom crazy because of one amazing
experience. Throughout all that time I never got any sort of
depression comedown. However, if there are some emotions in your
life back there it might trigger something.

Its a drug not to be taken lightly. That goes for all psychedelics. Respect and appreciation for a drug is key.

I get exactly the opposite effect from shroomz. My trips aren't always pleasant. I've had many times going through bas emotions and vibrations. But I always feel great in the end of the trip and the next day. I am somewaht more emotional, more seeking for the Good and willing to do good. I trip on shroomz mostly because I like what I get after the peak of their effects.

I've never had a crash on them. I've had a crash on MDMA, which made me cry. I've taken really large doses in combination with an MAOI, but never cried on shroomz (my girlfriend always does it). However MDMA's crash made me do it. Not because I was f***ed up like on other amphs I've tried, only the fact that it was going away made me cry. It was really a magical moment and I didn't want it to finish. Shroomz never made this with me. At the end of a shroomz trip I always feel well and somewhat cleaner psycholigically and emtionally than before.

    depression coming down?

so I am tripping for the first time tomorrow and heard that you often get erally depressed coming down. she heard if you have some weed it helps but shes wondering if coke would help or if thats a bad idea. she knows pretty much nothing about shrooms and is just wondering if that will be a horrible idea and she should just stick to the weed or what.

From what I have found, the exact opposite is true. That's the time to watch something funny and laugh your but off.

I suppose set and setting comes into play there. Dwell on the negative and you can get yourself stuck pretty deep.

Weed is fantastic if you're feeling fine and want a slight boost, but coke is bad. Aside from leaving you broke, it will take all the negative stress and multiply it.

    Re: depression coming down?

I have had very powerful trips and felt kind of down the next day, worn out, and kind of just wanted to sleep away the negativity.. It worked, although, he wasn't severely depressed, he definitely has felt worn out and worn down from a heavy trip in his days.. For most trips, however, he ends up feeling as everyone else has described, a bit enlightened and a healthy glow for the day or so afterwords.. Give them a try, and just decide on a beginners dose.. Expect to have fun, and you, most probably will.. Mushrooms don't cause the depression like MDMA can or anything, so don't worry about it..

    Re: Coming down

Yes, the down swing can be slow at times. Keep swiy's mood up, change the atmousphere, go for a jog, etc. Sitting around waiting for it to end is the easiest way to turn the tail end of a trip into a bad time.

    Re: Coming down

Swim never experianced this with a comedown from mushrooms. I did find thishappened to him after mushrooms and lsd together. I would suggest smoking a blunt near the end. This will bring back some trippiness, and when its over you will mostly be high. This works in swims experiance anyway, hopefully it will for You too.
