Checking out our stats, I just read that we have 73.000 unique visitors per month. I found this quite amazing. That's a shitload of people.

That's over 2400 a day on average. Great to hear of this progress being made. If only all things were the same.

Well, at least people are now getting the truth. Still though, well done to everyone.

Erowid is a different animal altogether. I'd like to think that we rather compliment each other. I do wish they'd screen their reports a bit better. It's annoying to find a trip-report on some obscure molecule - only to find that the character also took scullcap, bananadine, his granny's arthritis medicine, and some fermented prune-juice from 1957.

Erowid is a great compendium of information relating to drugs, but it doesn't have the focus that drugs-forum does I feel, not to mention the responsivity.

The trip reports are nicely collected, though I feel DF has a good collection as well, just different in focus for the most part.

As drugs-forum is increasing in size I feel that there is more potential to create knowledge and translate it into concise easily comprehendible articles. Once the potential of the forums is realized this site will be a much better resource than erowid overall I feel, but for right now they compliment each other nicely.

I agree that they are 2 very different yet complimentary websites. For certain types of info, Erowid is perfectly arranged. As for DF, I think our real strength lies in our rules. I've been on boards where it's constant flaming, almost impossible to get or give any real advice.

73,000..... we are a butt-load, huh? I find myself looking around work and wondering if any of my straight-laced colleagues are Df'ers in disguise.

Erowid has some kinks in its trip report section but it's the most comprehensive one out there.

as for boards with constant flaming and bullshiting. take one look at the temple of screaming bullshit (TOTSE) drugs section and you'll probably lose more IQ points than getting hit in the head with a sledgehammer.

I find Erowid's trip reports to be useless for the most part for the reasons Nagognog mentioned. Drugs-forum is quickly becoming #1 in terms of quality. It would be interesting to see how many monthly hits Erowid gets in order to measure up against probably the most popular drugs website on the net.

I agree, strict enforcement of the rules have made this forum what it is today. Erowid has lots of collected information on many kinds of drugs, DF is a forum where people can discuss drugs and find other kinds of information.

If we have 73.000 unique readers per month, I'd say that this forum has helped lots of people in using drugs responsably, and probably has saved many lives. And the press can't refer to this board as "a chatroom where our kids learn how to get high from gasoline". A big thanks to all admins and mods.

It is... it's cool to know that us prolific posters are making an impact, beyond just entertaining ourselves (and maybe others).

It also suggests a responsibility to always do the proper research and refrain from posting hearsay, or speaking from a position of emotional prejudice (at least without noting it in the post). IMO 99% are very good about that, but I've seen a few instances that bothered me. It's very hard to speak up about this kind of thing tactfully, so I usually just don't. Unfortunately, I don't find the reputation system useful at higher membership levels with long-established reps... it might have been a way to drop tactful hints, if it mattered a bit more. And it's just foolish for non-mod/admins to negatively rate any mod/admin's post... don't even get me started. I was dumb enough to try that once -- never again.

SWIM submitted detailed trip reports to them twice... both were non-trivial to write. They not only never posted his submissions, they weren't even polite enough to acknowledge receipt... not even an automated Email. Needless to say, SWIM's days of submitting stuff to Erowid are over. Let them eat Totse.com'ers :D.

That is quite some traffic... it would also be nice to know what parts of the world this forum has reached, as it seems much more diversified than others, also something that is somewhat less common, and precious in my eyes. Too bad it isn't really feasible...

With all the comparisons to erowid, wold it be possible for us to forge an alliance with them? I mean that we could share info and what not.

A symbiotic relationship of sorts already exists. Members here can use erowid as a handy compendium of knowledge to be applied to disucssion on the forums, and people using erowid can check the forums in cases where erowid doesn't have enough information to suit their needs or specific advice is needed. Both erowid and DF work well together, but there really isn't a need for a closer relationship than what exists now.

What I'm talking about is that Erowid could take reports from here and in return offer us some. Until I came to this site I was using Erowid for everything. I still would if another member hadn't told me about here.
