I have a friend who drank about 6 beers yesterday and had an unexpected ETG/10 panel UA 16 hours later. She works out about an hour a day, drinks approx 80 ounces of water and only drinks occasionally. If the cutoff level is 500ng will she pass? They only did this to her because her last UA came back diluted.

ETG? Those tests aren't common, but they are pretty sensitive. I'm sorry to say it's very uncertain. If the subject passes the ETG I would be surprised.

Due to rarity of this test type versus other testing types there are few reports concerning these tests. Please report back on the results.

Is and ETG/10 panel subject to dilution? Her first UA was just a regular 8 panel and they said it came back diluted which is why she had to take the ETG/10 panel. She normally drinks most of her water before lunch because she bikes to work. She is worried that the ETG will not only come back positive but possibly diluted again because she had drank 20 ounces of coffee, 30 ounces of diet pop and 32 ounces of water before the test because she didn't know about it. She had also already gone to the bathroom 4 times. To them a diluted UA is a positive.

Dilution is something that can be checked by testing for creatinine levels and specific gravity of the urine. The SAMHSA standards include this type of testing as a routine part of the SAMHSA-5 test panels and it's very likely to be included in a 10 panel. It's very hard to say how drinking fluids will affect creatinine levels or specific gravity. It depends a lot on individual physiology.
