~Hey, havent made a post here yet- so hello and thanks for such a great informative site and community youve got going here.

okay so this was swim's first try at poppy seed tea

swim let 300g seeds soak in lemon jiuce for 10 minutes, then poured in 300mL hot water- shook for five minutes, let it for 10 and repeated thrice.

an hour and a half later I was physically very relaxed and lethargic, although quite nauseous too. No euphoric feelings at all, just muscles relaxed.
later I went to bed- helped with nausia, still relaxed, itchy, hearing became more acute though- even sometimes the strange thoughts that fly thru ones head before they fall asleep became audible at times. But only a couple.

Swim woke up late the next day with a migraine, bad nausea resulting in vomiting bile, still itchy and muscles still relaxed. 26 hours after taking poppy seed tea I am still very sick- unable to take paracetamol as unsure of effects it may have..

swim went in respecting the drug- any ideas as to why this bad effect has happened?
he is considering whether or not he should try the tea again...right now his thuoghts are a definite no.

Thank you for reading- any feedback would be much welcomed and appreciated.

Firstly You oversoaked the seeds. Anything over 10 mins will only increase nausea, not potency.
Nausea is common anyway, but swiy's nausea sounds far worse than normal, perhaps one or more of the many chemicals in this cocktail does not agree with swiy.

Thebaine is a constituent found in opium poppies and used as a precursor to many synthetic opioids, but unlike morphine and codeine, it does not create a pleasant euphoria. Instead, when ingested, it can cause stimulation, nausea, and even convulsions. Perhaps You soaked it too long, as stated above, or the seeds came from plants with a high content of thebaine. Pods and plants differ in their alkaloid makeup, and seeds really arent the best thing to make tea out of anyway due to the fact that they only have residual opiates from the pods on them. A poppy pod tea would likely yield better results, but take it slow.

Has You ever tried Codeine by itself?, perhaps he lacks the enzyme needed to convert codeine to morphine, and therefore it would convert to norcodeine (which causes more negitive effects)... Poppy seed tea usually contain a number of alkaloids suchs as thebaine, morphine, and codeine. It is highly unlikly that you do lack that enzyme, but still possible.

Another possibility is that you have no tollerance, and happened to get awesomly potent seeds.

these are the only alternatives to the oversoaking I can think of... however, with the fact that high thebaine content can cause nausea, I would say it would be your most likly reason.

Well some companies choose to grow poppies whic have way more negative effects then positive ones due to people raiding their fields. So the seeds may be the result of one of those bad strain poppy brands. Bu a mentioned above, You may have used too many seeds for a person with a small tolerance.

Thankyou for the valuable feedback- swim appreciates it.

She (yup, typo: I am she) is considering giving another go, (and changing brands)..

Apart from soaking for a shorter amount of time, any other methods/ dosage recommended?

SWIdr uses lemon juice and that seems to work....very bitter tho. As for dosage most people (without tolerance) start out with half a pound, but all brands contain different amounts of alkaloids so its imposible to measure how much morphine, codiene, etc is on them. The lower the dose the safer it is until You knows how good the seeds are.
