Swim spent his past two weeks in an Intensive Outpatient rehab program for marijuana use, (not by choice), where he got Urinalysis tested everyday. Swim had heard about the supposed benefits from using Niacin to flush out THC and decided to give it a try. First of all Swim does NOT recommend anyone take more than the recommended dosage of niacin per day, as it has been proven to cause liver damage in high prolonged dosages over 2000-3000mg per day.

Swim is roughly 200lbs, rather tall (6'4), average body fat.

Swim had been smoking for 2-3 years and was a rather heavy smoker, (3-4 grams per day on average)

The brand of niacin used is called Slo Niacin 500mg controlled release tablet, and was purchased at a local vitamin store, (although it is sold at Wallmart). Swim would take five of these 500mg tablets each day, 2 when he woke up, and 1 every 2 hours after that until he reached his maximum daily dosage of 2500mg. Swim also made sure he drank lots of water, not too much, but definitely about double his normal amount.

Swim's baseline THC level was recorded at 113ng/ml, it should also be noted he smoked the day of his first test (lol).

    Baseline: 113ng/ml
    Day 1: 113ng/ml
    Day 2: 90ng/ml
    Day 3: 73ng/ml
    Day 4: 54ng/ml
    Day 5: 32ng/ml
    Day 6: 21ng/ml
    Day 7: 18ng/ml
    Day 8: 14ng/ml
    Day 9: First day clean

If users have any current knowledge about getting THC out of your system, it would be realized that swim's detox was EXTREMELY fast. Although it worked for Swim, he strongly encourages other swimmers NOT to try this for numerous reasons:

    1) First, users must decide what is more important, passing a drug test, or possibly doing permanent damage to vital organs, mostly the liver.

    2) Second, niacin has many side effects that swim noticed, such as skin redness and flushing, overheating, entire body being itchy, and constant stomach ache.

The point of this post was to prove that niacin CAN be used to flush THC out of someone's system, it is just EXTREMELY unhealthy. In Swim's opinion, it isn't worth it. Swiy is only born with one set of organs. And it still took Swim 9 days to fully detox, and most people just don't have that much warning before a test.

I know this post is pretty old now, but thanks, pretty informative.

I'd just like to add for anybody considering taking niacin (otherwise known as vitamin B3), the 'flushing' occurs when you have saturated your system with niacin. This shouldn't cause alarm and for someone taking for the first time this can happen at low doses (I'm talking about as low as 25mg, it just depends on the person). The flushing can be used to indicate the amount you should be taking, and can be upped each subsequent time as the body learns to handle more of the vitamin. People taking niacin for depression or anxiety are advised to take enough so that they flush a little after each dose, so don't let the flushing itself worry you!

Is this a permanent flush? AFOAF has to take a urine screen possibly in 16 days for pain management clinic. They need to get thc out but still have the morphine and norco he is prescribed in his system.

The flush is not permanent and can last anywhere from ten minutes to a couple of hours depending on how much you take.

My girlfriend's roommate has a urinalysis coming up for his job. We're trying to figure out if he's going to continue to have a job to pay rent with or if we should start moving her in with me. He says he smokes around a gram a day, also a heavy cigarette smoker, around 180lb, 6ft tall. The changes he made about 5 day's before the test: he stopped smoking marijuana, started working out daily, drinks around 4-6 bottles of water a day, stopped eating greasy and sugary foods and replaced them with anti-oxidant fruits and veggies and eating healthier less fatty meats, and has been taking about 1000mg of niacin just before bed to help with the effects of flushing. He is also planning on stopping smoking cigarettes about 24 hours before the test. He was smoking marijuana daily for about a month, stopped for about 3-4 day's about 2 week's prior to the test and then started again and has now stopped 5 days before the test. What do you think the probability is that he will pass a standard urinalysis? I hope he passes, because I'm honestly not ready for her to move in!

fi_junky added 6 Minutes and 38 Seconds later...

    Continuing from above...
He also told me he's planning on taking around 3000mg of niacin the night before the test and gradually taking 1000mg more throughout the day on the day of the test, before the test.
