Swim was wondering how long it takes for 5mg hydrocodone to leave your saliva. They took the pill sometime last night and had a saliva drug test around 5pm the next day. Swim thinks it was an old pill because it had no effect and rarely take hydrocodone because of an allergy. What are the chances it will show on the drug test?

according to this chat, up to 48 hrs. It's actually for oxycodone but both drugs have similar half-lives. Drug Testing - A Comprehensive Guide also has many things you should read, though not a specific answer to how long hydrocodone is detectable in saliva.

I had to take a saliva test for work, I'm not sure what all they tested for but I know hydrocodone was one because the boss told me "we test for things like weed, coke, lortabs...", and the day before the test I had taken 15 mg hydrocodone and ~300 mg codeine (which would show up as morphine) plus 10 or 20 mg of methadone (which they probably didn't test for) and I passed the test fine. Now I'm not saying that you will have the same results, maybe the test they use is really crappy, but saliva tests aren't all that accurate and considering the low dose of hydrocodone you took, you will probably be fine, imo.

I wouldn't worry too much but there's no guarantee though.
