This is pretty ghetto, but for those rare, annoying moments where you only have one bowl of weed and your lighter is out and you don't wanna go buy another one, this can be a lifesaver. :crazy

    You need:
    -Stove, Electric or Gas
    -Spaghetti
    -Weed
    -A Piece

...you probably see where I'm going with this. Turn your stove on, if you've got an electric you're going to need to put it on high (pun intended), or at least the '8' or '9' setting to reach the temperature of combustion. Just let it heat up for a minute, it doesn't need to glow red hot but near it. Just put the uncooked strand of spaghetti in the flame/on the element, and it will shortly catch on fire. Turn it vertically for a second so it catches on fire more, and now you can use it like a "match" for smoking. Like I said, useful only when necessary.

If SWIY has a high powered laser pen, you can place a black dot on the tip of SWIY joint with a marker pen then shine the laser on the dot until it catches fire. The dot is needed as white things (like rizla) reflect all light, while black thing absorb it, and hence it gets hot.

If you have a old computer with a CD drive and burner, take the laser out of that. Its strong enough to burn a hole in your curtains across the room,so it should be able to fire up a bowl!

My friend experienced a long time with no lighter before he turned 19. His solution that he found easiest requires

    a stove (electric or gas)
    paper

He took the paper and rolled it into a twig shape, then put it on the stove's element after it had heated to red. It burst into flame and he could use that to light his bowl. Easy peasy... just remember to turn the stove off...

Swim can buy lighters too. The thing is paper produces a lot more smoke, and a lot more harmful smoke, while the spaghetti is mostly starch.

yuckk. Swim would hate to use any of these for lighting his bowl... idk why it just sounds bad/nasty for you.. swim thinks that burning those type of things and inhaling them can be really damaging. if swim had to pick though he would say spaghetti is a better choice between that and paper. You could probably make a vaporizer out of a light bulb and some other equipment.. then use the stove to make it hot enough to smoke from..?

There's always the magnifying glass too...probably similar to the laser smoking mentioned above. A very clean smoke.

    Just pretend you're burning ants.

Just to add a bit more info on the lazer method of burning. To burn things it is required at least a 50mW or preferably 100mW. Those cheap lazer pointer pens (around 1mW) are, quite literally, not going to cut it.

I'd say that is one of the more nerdier way of lighting up. I'm curious what the epitome of nerd bonging would be.

Swim attempted this spaghetti match deal on his electric stove. The stove was on as hot as it could go and swim first put the spaghetti just a tid bit above the flame but nothing was happening... then swim touched the spaghetti to the stove and it started to smoke and shrivel and turn black and a little red but it never got to the point where the tip of the spaghetti actually caught flame. All swim was left with was a smelly house and some un-smoked supply.

That's very strange. If swiy's electric stove becomes red-hot, then it should catch fire no matter what. For it to emit visible light means the element is far above the combustion temp for the spaghetti.
Also, whole wheat doesn't work as well.

It has to be a dvd burner ;). And the brands that work are pretty limited.

Plus it doesnt have an IR filter.

But yeah, it can totally be done, i did it myself and mounted it in a little tube behind a ir filter and its awesome.

SWIM has tried this and it doesn't work. He left his electric stove going on high for about 2 or 3 mins, then tried the spaghetti and nothing.. smokes a little and shrivels up.

First post in the weed forum,

Lol. I don't know why but this thread made me laugh. Spaghetti does light. I was making pasta lastnight and dropped some on the stove that went under the pot and started burning. I didn't realize it until I smelled something. I pulled it out and watched it burn for awhile untill I put it out. I found it interesting that it burns so well.

In swim's younger, weed smoking days, his lighter broke so he used a stick from a camp fire to smoke a bowl. It work well but he did inhale a bit of wood smoke.

if someone lived on a planet full of aliens where drug use was legal and encouraged, and they just needed a light for cigs and joints, someone else living on the same planet might suggest the spaghetti lighting excersize as well, only use the lit spaghetti to light a small candle. Voila, you have a constant flame for lighting things. You try to do this with a bowl though and you are going to end up waxing your marijuana..lol.

Aaron the science guys asks me to ask and tell you that he says

" That's great! Couldn't you just roll it and then use a toaster or stove to light it? or for say if your smoking a bowl use a cotton swap and stick it on the stove like you said? I like the idea of noodles though, but what happens when you get the munchies and want noodles to eat? Then realize oh dang, I used the noodles to light my bowl. "

Yeah this would be useful to smoke bongs, obviously the stove, or a piece of paper wouldn' really cut it.

    "Spotting"

Instead of using a piece, use a technique called "spotting". Its a lesser known tech but very common in some parts of the world and has been around for centuries.

    Supplies:
    -2 stainless knives
    -Stove
    -Herb
-"Hooter" (broken bottle, funnel, something of that shape to breathe the smoke through)

    Procedure:
Turn on the stove and place the tips of your knives over the flame, or under the elements of yours is electric. While your knives are heating, tear off a piece of bud that will fit on the knives' tips and set it aside. When your knives are searing hot, pull them off the heat, put the hooter to your mouth, pick up the bud with the knives, and take your hit.

    Peace and Pot
