An acquaintance of a friend wants to inject powder coke AND OxyContin (either together or separately). He went to a needle exchange and got a kit (came with needles, alcohol swabs, sterile water, little sterile "dishes" to use instead of spoons, filters, vitamin c powder).

He did a bunch of research, and tried skin popping a couple times, but he wants to try mainlining. He has done tons of research and has a general idea how to do it, but he seems to not be able to find a vein. He thinks maybe part of the problem is 1) he can't see or feel them (he doesn't know how to find them by touch) and 2) he isn't sure exactly where to look (other than the general area of his forearm).

Can SWIY provide advice please? Every time he tries to inject, he finds he hasn't hit a vein and ends up skin popping. It's working OK, but he wants a rush.

Also, perhaps more importantly, after you take the coating off of the OxyContin (which the acquaintance of my friend knows how to do) how do you prepare it for injection?

This depends which Oxycontin SWIY has. Does SWIY have the preferred old Oxycontin OC's or does he have the newer formulation of the Oxycontin OP's?

This is an important factor in dealing with injecting (or even abusing at all) the newer Oxycontins (OP).

it says he lives in canada, We do not have the new formula oxy (we will soon tho "OxyNEO") so they are the "original oxycontin"

Bunnintreez added 3 Minutes and 54 Seconds later...

this is how swim has seen OC prepped for IV.

    -take coating off pill
    - grind up dose with a hose clamp (make sure it is CLEAN!!!)
    - scape powder into spoon
    - add however many units of COLD water to spoon with powder (60-100units)
-Stir mixture as much as u can, let it sit for a minute or 2 (swim doesnt kno if this helps, apparently the oxycodone will disolve into cold water in a couple seconds, but swim leaves it for a couple minutes anyways)
    -Add filter
-suck up mixture thro cotton (there will be a lot of crap left over in the spoon, u can do a second wash if u dont think u got all the oxycodone the first time)
    -bang it

Thanks for the reply. How, exactly, would my acquaintance filter it? The injection kit he got came with little cotton filters but he is unsure how to use them with the 1mL 100-unit insulin syringes that came.

Funny thing is i actually knew Canada hadn't yet switch/received the OP formulation yet. I just didn't notice that the thread starter was from there. Lol.

As to how to use the cotton as a filter, do a quick search here on the forum. There are MANY threads that touch upon the process of injection and how to do it safely. We're all about harm reduction here at DF so please read up on and fully understand the process and safety precautions when injecting pills (which is often not recommended) before you do so. If you have any trouble finding the information that you need, PM me and I can explain the process to you as I don't want to be redundant by posting the process in yet another thread. Good luck, be safe, and enjoy that OC!

SWIM also fairly new injecting oxys. SWIM recommends thoroughly reading all the harm reduction threads on this site. She found this thread particularly helpful http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28116. There is some difference is the preparation of the pills as opposed to heroin, such as taking off the coating, crushing the pill, and no need for heat or the citric acid.

As for the cotton filter, SWIM has found that simply putting it in the solution putting the tip of the needle in and pulling back the plunger works effectively. As for finding veins, doing some push ups, putting a hot compress on the expected injection site and using a tourniquet can all help bring one to the surface. SWIM has had good luck with veins on the top of her hand and in the crook of the elbow. Also if SWIY doesn't register the first time pull out and try again. The first time SWIM tried it took about 15 minutes to finally find something.

Most importantly do as much research as possible before IVing, be careful, and don't make the decision lightly. Good luck.
