I've been a lurker for a while now, only a member for a short time, and this is my first post. So bear with me.

AFOAF takes 4 pills every morning: 36 mg of Concerta for ADHD, 20 mg of Paxil for Anxiety, and 50 mg of Zinc with 500 mg of Vitamin C for a weak immune system.

Would it be safe for him to smoke weed while taking these?

    Thanks in advance

You can smoke weed it's just, it'll negate or at least weaken the effects of ur psyche meds. I used to smoke while taking similar meds for similar things and the meds wouldn't even really do what they were supposed to as long as weed was in my system. But ultimately it's ur call, it won't kill u if u do smoke but the thing is weed would probably make ur anxiety worse over time. It's known to do that.

To be honest I wouldn't worry so much about the medication interactions. The more pressing concern for me would be smoking weed if you have existing anxiety issues. I'm not entirely sure how much is media bullshit, and how much is stoner bullshit, but for me the links between existing psychological issues and weed are too strong to ignore. On top of that smoking is probably going to go even worse if you have a weakened immune system, if its your first time inhaling hot smoke it will probably mess up your throat and lungs pretty bad, and you really don't want an infection there.

I think almost anything is safe with cannabis, especially the most popular medications. Amphetamines, Alcohol, MDMA, Benzos, Opiates, and most Psychedelics are all pretty safe, just to name a few. There was this one time I mixed the mood stabilizer Topamax (Topiramate) and weed, and had a really frightening and delirious reaction.

    So yeah,
Concerta and Weed mix well actually.

No, no, no. Maybe a much of the time, but if something goes wrong with one med or drug, having combining it with marijuana will make it worse. And don't underestimate the effect MJ has on the heart. If someone had some kind of heart problem for example, the damage that coke or meth might do would be greatly exacerbated. I think it's pretty safe to guess the OP doesn't have this problem, but don't be fooled into thinking any combinations with MJ is perfectly safe.
On the other hand, I've been stoned while taking a half dozen different antidepressants including Paxil, (at different times, obviously) and never noticed any effects other than extra drowsiness. I don't think MJ necessarily interferes too much, not compared to alcohol, for example. Alcohol will basically flush any med that is metabolized in the liver. I'd recommend not adding alcohol to the mix.

Thanks everybody for your input! I'm going to try smoking a small amount and see how it goes. I'll report back with my findings.
