SEABROOK, N.H. --Federal officials are warning that methamphetamine dealers are targeting New England to expand their sales.

At a news conference today in Seabrook (New Hampshire), authorities pointed to an October meth seizure in the town as an example of the growing problem.

At nearly 12 pounds, it was the largest seizure in New England, and it was worth about a million and a half dollars. It was found in a car at a store parking lot and four men were arrested, two in Seabrook and two in Lynn, Massachusetts.

U.S. Attorney Tom Colantuono said meth distribution groups are looking at New England as a fresh, open market.

Authorities they believe the meth was made in a lab near the Mexican border.

The announcement was timed to coincide with National Methamphetamine Awareness Day.
