    10mg of morphine is . . . 10mg of morphine . . doesn't matter what salt form it is in . . .
Comparable to 5mg Oxycodone etc, same with all comparison charts showing similar statistics.

Morphine HCl is exactly the same as Morphine Sulphate except they just just a different salt form but MG for MG they are exactly the same.

    Hope this has helped :)

To compare doses of Morphine salts, you should first determine the amount of freebase present by applying the freebase conversion factor.

This conversion factor is the molecular weight of the freebase divided by the molecular weight of the salt. For morphine HCl this is 285.34 / 321.80 = 0.887. So 10mg of morphine HCl = 10*0.887 = 8.87 mg morphine. This assumes that it's the plain HCl salt, not the hydrate.

This is a good place to start regarding the comparison of 10mg Morphine HCl to other opiates: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12351

It would seem opiate comparison uses morphine as the benchmark, just like with benzodiazepines it's usually diazepam that is used as the benchmark.

Yep almost all comparison charts use morphine as the "gold standard" to which all other opiates are compared. Doesnt even matter if an opiate / opioid comes out that is superior to Morphine. Morphine is like the cm or inch of opiates, something to which all is measured. If morphine is the mile, the diamorphine is 2 miles etc . . . HEH.

One posted a whole heap of links to comparison charts somewhere in this forum, buggered if he remembers in which thread though. :)
