You can chew the fresh leaves or dry them and smoke them. Search this forum for smoking intructions.

them is mainly referring to the "quid" method. This quid is made up of
about 8-15 fresh or rehydrated leaves rolled into a ball or cigar shape
and held under your tongue for a half-hour. The quid is chewed slowly,
about once every 10 seconds, or until you begin to feel the oncoming of
your trip and want to stop. After the half-hour or when your trip
begins, you can then spit it out. You may want to soak the leaves with
honey to avoid the bad taste of them. I would not recommend swallowing
the quid, because numerous people have reported that it's very hard to
swallow, and plus, the active ingredient in Salvia (Salvinorin A) does
not absorb well in your stomach, so there's really no advantage to
    ingesting it.

it all depends on how quickly you want your trip to come, or how
intense you would like it to be. Smoking the leaves will give you a
very quick oncoming of a trip (about 1-2 minutes) and it will last
anywhere between 5-20 minutes. This trip, compared to the quid method,
will most likely be more intense (assuming you use regular dried leaves
in both cases). In the quid method, it may take a good 15-30 minutes
before you even start to feel the Salvia take you away. This trip can
last anywhere from 15 - 60 minutes, depending on how many leaves you
chew and how long you hold them in your mouth; although, it will not be
as intense as a trip of smoked Salvia.

From all of the things I've heard, smoking it is the better part of the
deal because it doesn't take near as long to reach the peak of your
trip and it does not require as many leaves (only about 1/5 of a quid
trip). That way, if you are not having a good trip, it won't be long
before you are back to "normal".
