A very good question. I remember that the book plants of the gods, edition without Christian Rätsch, mentioned a african ipomea(morning glory)variety is smoked by indignious people, so the chances are great that this will give a strong & good effect. But in case of bioessaying this, please go easy on the dose. There might be some strong side effects. It would be wise to first look up which substances are in the plant. Anyone care to post this here? I do not have my books at hand.

This isall Icould findon the net:
    Ipomoea carnea<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

    Shrub Morning Glory

    Convolvulaceae--Morning Glory Family

    Native to India

Unlike most members of the Morning Glory family, this species is a shrub that is often an aggressive invader in its native habitat.

An extract of the leaves causes drunkeness and the smoked leaves are a hallucinogen. The seeds of I. carnea are the most potent of all the Ipomoea species.

wow i have never heard of the leaves being smoked. as i understand it the LSA's get destroyed by heat rather easily. perhaps there are other chemical at work, but i doubt it. if you have a bunch of leaves go for it, i would be extremly curious.

i would suggest eating the seeds.

as 57 mentioned, LSA's are destroyed by heat. This makes me curious as
to what is causing the psychedelic effects from smoking it.

Anyone have any info on this, sources would be great.

    thankls

That wouldnt be a good idea - the heat from whatever flame you're using will destroy the active tryptamines within the seeds.

However, grind up about 6-9g of seeds, soak them in cold water for an hour, strain and drink. NOW smoke a bowl of some good MJ...you'll be in a for a pleasant, if not somewhat nauseating, ride:)

There is a lot of reports on an Australian forum about smoking LSA sucessfully. People have apparently got very good results from scraping the fuzz from HBWR and smoking or snorting. All that is required is the scrapings from 1-4 seeds. This would appear to defy science and could possibly be a result of other chemicals besides LSA present in the seeds, or substances converting to other substances upon being burnt.

ok let's open my (sacred&holy) Merck index...ergine...ergine...no ergine?
    Mmmm....lysergic acide amide...
    lysergic acide amide...lysergic ac...lysergamide ! here it is !
    So...prism from methanol, dec 242°
    That's it.

Merck index is a must have ! (really worth the high price for the book)

Very interesting. I wonder what they smoked it for (LSA like effects, visionary, sedative)?

swim has Eaten 3 MG Flowers before. pretty heavy sudation(sp) but nothing psychdelic. maby if one ate more it could give an effect, but may have worse side effects than even the seeds(nausea etc...) due to more bad constituants and less LSA and related alkoloids. as for smokking, 57 and GDxCAT are correct as far as i know, heat distroys the LSA. maby it only distroys some of the LSA and some survives and gets through to swiy's lungs?
