Would a standard 9-panel UA done at a medical lab be able to tell the difference between benzo's?? My unicorn is prescribed Diazepam but occasionally takes Alprazolam also.

it depends if they are checking for diazapam specifically or not... Like, the way they will do it is if you tell them upfront u take benzo's, they will see a positive for benzo's, and instead of digging into any further and checking to see what benzo's u r taking, they will probably leave it at that and not do a conformation check to see which benzo it is... If it is an on the spot test that has a "dip stick" to determine a hot ua, u r gravy if u tell them about the prescription first. But if they send it off and check EVERYTHING, u r screwed... Hope this helps in someway..lol

The unicorn will be showing the lab his prescription for diazepam. The test isn't testing for ANYTHING specifically, it's just a standard 9-panel UA for probation. So after showing the lab his script for diazepam, they shouldn't be surprised to see him test positive for benzo's, he's just worried if they would be able to tell if he's actually taking his prescribed diazepam and NO OTHER benzo's, like the alprazolam he enjoys taking every once in a while.

For probation testing they will very likely do a confirmation test which will distinguish between diazepam and alprazolam and show the levels of both.
