Hi. Most of my friends are on "Tina" but they seem completely sober while they are on it. They even buy alcoholic cocktails while on "Tina" ... they just blend it with the crowd.

Why is 90% of the gay population on "Tina" yet.... they seem so sober all the time? The gay scene also pretends like drugs, especially "Tina" doesn't exist... but drugs run rampant

@SR - Tina is a slang used for methamphetamine, hence the sub-forum

@Original Poster - The people at Drugs Forum want posters to shy away from using slang, as it could mean anything to anyone...anywhere in the world.

Wether a person is gay or not really holds no bearing on the use of drugs, and it would be safe to assume that the estimate of 90% of the homosexual population being under the influence of methamphetamine is strongly exaggerated. Methamphetamine, just like most drugs, comes with tolerance barriers that can easily be broken therefore requiring more of the drug to get "high" and at least some of the drug to feel "normal" which could lead to the easy assumption of blending in with the crowd. Stimulants tend to counteract depressants, Meth = stimulant while alcohol = depressant.

A little more reading around and more in depth answers can be found, perhaps to questions that haven't been asked but may arise.

Methamphetamine is supposed to make you clearer and more alert.

Therefore, seeing users appear as "sober" is not surprising

Gay people use methamphetamine because it in face DOES make men hotter, not just to women, but to gay men.

However its important to ask SWIY if they've ever tried it. Meth isnt like other drugs. Its initial effect is more of a sober-sharp feeling, quite the contrary to producing a stupid-stereotypical stoner appearance.

It's just like some heroin addicts. They're so familiar with the effects after so much use, that when they're completely fucked up in their own mind, how they convey themselves seems completely normal. Actually, this can apply to most drugs as long as they don't have any blatant physical symptoms, even drugs like LSD.

What it all comes down to really is dosing. The more you take, the more people are going to notice.

I would also like to point out that everyone's body reacts differently to drugs and therefore appearance on drugs can vastly differ.

SWIM always looks normal regardless of any drug SWIM has taken. Another thing to realize is, as long as you are not acting too out of the ordinary, most people won't know or even suspect you are on anything.

Methamphetamine usually causes dehydration and results in a slimmer appearance due to the lost of water.

Perhaps the slimmer appearance is what Izzy31 was referring too as making men "hotter".

I would assume the dopamine rush would cause one to think about sexual things and project those feelings on those around them

SWIM has never done meth.... SWIM finds it strange that you really cant ever tell if someone is on it unless they did an absurb amount and then its obvious because they are whispering when they talk and they look like raccoons.

Well other people who have done methamphetamine can some times tell if someone is on it by the subtle effects such as fidgeting, twitching and excessive sweating.

These are only really discernible to people who have experienced the drug themselves which is why they know what to look for.

Unless you, yourself, actually have experience with methamphetamine, it can be very difficult to detect that somebody is using - that is if the person on meth is experienced.

Eventually people who do meth sleep, eat, and just overall function normally when loaded.

Also, and most importantly, most (like what 95% plus?) users cannot help but use frequently and end up acting like there on speed when there not (assuming there past the comedown/hangover stage) and also people end up thinking that how the person on speed acts is normal- because there always on speed people think that is just them. Sometimes, Daisy is mistaken for being high because Daisy isn't high and doesn't act normal as a result.

Hope this post helped and provided some different points than the ones posted above.

Haha SWIM indeed recalls humorously the times SWIM was always on it but looked normal to his friends. However on days SWIM is completely sober, friends ask SWIM if SWIM is on anything.

thanks. i also noticed how "nice" and "moodfree" and not angry the tina heads are aswell.

does this drug even have negative effects?

im talking highly successful people with loads of money that i know do this stuff (but if you ask them if they do it, they say no or they say "i dont do it alot")

Well it really depends on frequency as well as potency of usage.

A common characteristic of people who have smoked too much is that they become extremely paranoid and agitated. They may start thinking people are against them or out to get them. They may become violent and more impulsive.

Methamphetamine negative effects are no laughing matter.

The highly successful people that take the drug either know how to control it very well, or won't remain highly successful for long, because unmonitored usage of this drug can only spell certain doom to addiction.

The drug has incredibly negative side effects, they just aren't always apparent to the world. Daisy has had days where Daisy would wake up and immediately start crying for hours, without any reason because there was just no dopamine.

Sometimes people blow all there money and take a 360 degree lifestyle turn once they start using. However, more realistically, people use meth and other stimulants to further there life in a positive way. Eventually though, almost always there life takes a turn and just starts snowballing downhill. 99.9% of long term users will ruin there lives to an at least 'considered horrible' point. Some just take longer to get there.

Another way to tell is certain people-probably most people really-have a tell if you know what to look for. Swim has one friend that swim can tell he's high by his face-particularly his lips.

Swim has been doing meth for years but has done it mostly on his own and tried his best to not know or hang out with too many others but swim just saw how bad someone can be tweaking out a couple nights ago. Trust me if you saw someone doing what swim saw you'd have an idea they were on something.

Thing is its hard to identify people high on drugs such as methamphetamine. SWIM has no trouble identifying a drunk or stoned person but drugs such as opiates, stimulants even some psychedelics you wouldn't tell them apart (of course if they are exhibiting abnormal behavior, and again it could be a mental disorder etc) you never know.

Hints to tell if they are using is:
    Paranoid stares and actions
    Eyes darting excessively
Constant sniffing etc of the nose
    Track marks

List goes on (most are physical signs).

SWIM holds a executive job and has gone undetected for years. It started as a little PNP with friends every few months mostly smoking. Swim thinks the attraction was more about the unihibited way tina made him feel. This went on for several years. Then he met a new friend who was a dealer who convinced him to slam. That first hit was too large, the rush will never be forgotten and the subsequent sex is always on his mind. Addiction was almost instantaneous. SWIM loves and hates the man. Mostly loves. Swim stays away from it most of the time but the siren song is so lovely.
