My friend has been offered acid and shrooms twice now without even looking for them. Hes tempted and has tried green and coke a good few times now. The only problem is he doesn't want to try something he knows nothing about, and he knows someone who has supposedly died from acid. Whats the truth about acid and are shrooms any different? Of course this has nothing to do with me i dont support the use of drugs :D

Physically there is no danger from Shrooms or acid, it's neigh on impossible to physically kill yourself or put yourself in any danger with either. There are however significant psychological risks, ie you could go crazy! Most problems with acid or shrooms acid in particular is when people with pre existing psychological problems take them. For example if someone has bipolar depression etc.

Here are the posative and negative effects of acid:
    POSITIVE
    increase in energy (stimulation)
increase in associative & creative thinking
    mood lift
increased awareness & appreciation of music
increased awareness of senses. (eating, drinking, smell)
    closed and open eye visuals
    profound life-changing spiritual experiences
    NEUTRAL
general change in consciousness (as with most psychoactives)
    pupil dilation
    difficulty focusing
increased salivation and mucus production (causes coughing in some people)
unusual body sensations (facial flushing, chills, goosebumps, body energy)
    unusual thoughts and speech
    change in perception of time
quickly changing emotions (happiness, fear, gidiness, anxiety, anger, joy, irritation)
    slight increase in body temperature
    slight increase in heart rate
    NEGATIVE
    anxiety
    tension, jaw tension
    increased perspiration
    nausea
    dizziness, confusion
    megalomania
    over-awareness & over-sensitization to music and noise
    paranoia, fear, and panic
    unwanted and overwhelming feelings
    unwanted life-changing spiritual experiences
    flashbacks

It would be advisable to use Shrooms before acid as they tend to be a little more controlable and less intense. SWIF has tried both and finds Shrooms more fun and acid more of a head wreck.

Good luck doing whatever you choose, dont forget to post an experience report and feel free to ask any further questions.

To SWIM, he says LSD is much more controlable than mushrooms.
SWIM is more in his own world and outside people can disrupt his positive feelings very easily, whereas on LSD, SWIM may get uncomfortable at points, but can always handle it better.
    Everyone is different, though.

LSD is non toxic and SWIM believes people can not OD on it.

There is a risk that when taking a strong Psychoactive like acid that you become unaware of your surroundings. This coupled with the inability to make logical thought could lead to something dangerous which results in death.

A Classic example would be someone who believes that they can fly, they can even see their wings so they jump off a 4 story building an plummit to their death.

This is why a trip sitter, or someone who is not as intoxicated is advised with these substances to prevent such an event from occuring. If Your friend wants to take LSD or SHrooms he should do alot of research about them prior to using.

A lot of people talk shit about acid. I don't think there's a drug out there with more urban myths attached to it. LSD is virtually impossible to overdose on physically. The only way I could imagine someone dying on acid would be death by misadventure i.e. falling off something; which shouldn't ordinarily happen because when choosing to ingest a molecule as powerful as LSD, one should respect the environment they use it in. Otherwise, they simply shouldn't be using LSD in the first place.

Read up on it a bit more. Check out this sites' LSD basics thread:

    Also check out:

Those are two good places to start. Don't jump into LSD without knowing what you're doing. Having researched the drug beforehand, the eventual experience will be a lot more reassuring and rewarding.

Can anyone tell me how bad acid is for you in the long term? Loads of people have told me that if you do acid 3 times you're classed as officialy insane :(. Swim has done acid 3 times in total now (all have been in the 2 weeks), and swim wants to do more acid. Is this safe as swim is already pretty fucked in the head from other drugs and doesn't want to make it too much worse.

exactly, also for SWIBL and his friends. shrooms fuck him up most, those are the most uncontrollable and dark. whenever your trip goes the wrong way on shrooms, usually the only things you can think of are those nasty thoughts, they just keep disturbing and nagging (if you've had as many negative trips as SWIBL on shrooms you can learn to deal with these thought an push them aside a bit). whereas on acid when some nasty thought emerge you can kind of push them aside, acid is pretty controllable, as long as you don't take very much. shrooms are very uncontrollable.

OMG please stop it, that is utter bullshit. then there would be A LOT of insane people. BUT some people can become "insane" (like a psyshosis maybe, which is not really insane") from taking it only one time. BUT these people have it in them, these are people that are mentally VERY weak, but these people shouldn't use ANY psychedelic.

ALthough the advice in the post above is correct please dont let SWIY do acid so regularly, IF acid is repeated so regularly some of the "magic" will dissappear. Just a view point but something worth taking on board, mushroom and acid trips should be saved for about once a month if at all possible.

Right on. For any psychedelic substance a month is a good interval to leave between instances of use.

Helps preserve the magic and makes sure you dont "drop out" as Leary says which just gives entheogen users a bad name.

Psychedelics should help you reflect on life and keep you on the right path, not be your life and take you completely off any path.
