Other - What are the little wax paper bags really used for?

    The little wax bags that have stamps on them.. about 2" x 3/4" - what are they really used for, out of curiosity?
    I once heard they were for culinary, but searches don't bring up much.
    Do they hold powders for cooking? For science?
    Where would one go to look for them?

    Ah, yeah. They're called glassine bags. I guess they're used for all sorts of things and come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors.
