    SWIM....
Thinks he messed up because he detoxed from 85mg of methadone and has been 6 days sober ao far from methadone, but on the 4th day he took 8mg of suboxone and on the 5th day he took 5mg. Today SWIM hasn't taken any suboxone. Did SWIM prolong his withdrawls from taking the suboxone for just 2 days???

HypNoTiK added 2 Minutes and 29 Seconds later...

SWIM did detox from 85mg-0mg of methadone in 7 days.
    swim dropped 13mg a day

how many days did swiy wait to take the suboxone after his last dose of methadone? swiy needs to be in pretty bad withdrawal for suboxone (buprenorphine) to help. if taken to early it can make things worse. swim went from 150 to 80 within about 1.5 months. his doc put him on 5 80mg oxycontin for 6 days (total of 30 80mg oxycontin) to get the methadone out of his body, then went through withdrawal for two days, and then used subutex (buprenorphine). it didn't make him feel a whole lot better at first, but not worse. that was a good sign. i didn't go into precipitated withdrawals (which are HORRIBLE and happen when you take buprenrorphine while still having opioids in your body) so i was thankful for that. the first three days were pretty bad but things got better and better and by about a week and a half i felt completely normal. please read my thread "leaving methadone around 100mg". swiy will fully understand.

but swim is a little confused. did the suboxone make swiy feel better? if so it is kind of prolonging the withdrawals but if he feels good it would be a good idea to do a suboxone taper and do it fast over a couple of weeks.

Suboxone (in Swims experience) is usually tapered to something around or below the 2mg/day mark when dropped. Swim suggests if swiy is experiencing some bad withdrawls to taper with the suboxone if possible. Is it being prescribed ? Theres tons of suboxone info on here about tapering if swiy can.

SWIM has a suboxone prescription, however she doesn't necessary take it as consistently as she should. ;)

Thing about suboxone is that it can be a wonder drug. Generally facilities will prescribe it for detox wherein a user is provided with 8mg for around three days and then tapered off to 4mg, 4mg, 2mg, 2mg, 1mg, 1mg, etc. When SWIM has done this, she never experienced any sort of w/d from suboxone and the entire process was rather painless.

Then SWIM went ahead and #$*@ed that all up and got a prescription to the stuff. So SWIM got on maintenance and took it appropriately for a while, taking 16mg a day, but then slowly decreased it a bit because she didn't feel that she really needed the entire 16mg. She got it down to where she was taking about 4mg a day. This process lasted for roughly 2-3 months and SWIM would occasionally forget to take it. Thing is, she would soon remember that it needed to be taken because the w/d's were in fact worse than dope withdrawals.

Additionally, this last time SWIM went to rehab back in August, she had been self-detoxing for 3 days prior to going into the facility with suboxone taking 8mg per day. Once in the facility, the doctors gave her subutex for roughly 8 days. Once she was "tapered" down with the subutex, SWIM noticed serious withdrawals for the subsequent 3 or 4 days.

Since SWIM has already messed up the magic of suboxone, she's maintaining her script for times when she is unable to obtain to acquire what she greatly prefers, however, if possible, SWIM strongly suggests to use it exclusively for detox, but never for maintenance. The w/ds are not as bad as methadone, but akin to that once the body has become accustomed to it.

SWIM is a week sober from methadone but during the last 3 days he took suboxone. Will he most likely have withdrawals from the suboxone. The suboxone helped him a lot he's only takin it the past 3 days 8 mg 1 day, 4mg the next, and 2mg yesterday. He felt great during the day yesterday, but he couldn't sleep cus of restless legs, which he has never felt before. Will he have any particular withdrawal from the suboxone for just taking it 3 days and not taking and stoppin cold turkey off of the suboxone for just these 3 days even though the last dose was only like 2mg?

Swiy will probably experience some withdrawls. Swim himself tapred using suboxone only a couple months ano and, well, so far so good. Swim hopped off after a 2 week taper and got down to about 1or2 mg a day. Definitely RLS like swiy said, insomnia, anxiety, etc.. But nothing compared to quitting cold turkey after a year of heroin use. If swiy tapers correctly, it should be relatively painless. Keep fightin the good fight.

This was swim's experience with Suboxone; however, he had to do the tapering his self in secret, as the facilities were trying to get him on long term maintenance. It sounds as though more knowledge about how to use it correctly is becoming known. When swim was taking it they tried to tell him it was non addictive.

Also, swim is unsure of the need to wait for wd's if taking Subutex as it has no naloxone in it. He started taking it while still high from his last dose and had no negative effects. Subutex is white while Suboxone is orange.

SWIM is now 11 days sober and went from 8 mg of suboxone ,then to 4, and then to 2mg. The withdrawal was pretty bad for SWIM and still is. Prolly cus SWIM Dropped 13mg a day of methadone from 85 mg in less than 7 days. SWIM still has cramps and RL/s, insomnia, and is always cold, but every day is better. SWIM's head feels ten times clearer also. SWIM suggests to taper down slowly as pssible, and then the withdrawals wont be so bad.
