Is it better to use white grapefruit juice to potentiate PPT or can pink be used? It might seem like a daft question but whilst I have never seen anyone explicitly say to use white, where the colour was referred to it was always white GFJ.

I would prefer to use pink as it is slightly less horrible but I have used white up until now just be on the safe side? Next time I get some tea I would like to know I can use the better tasting one.

    Thank you.

Nope. White it needs to be.

However, you could half & half it, to improve taste! :)

And the concentrate the best way to use it - I can almost completely hide the taste of WGFJ by mixing a spoonful or two of frozen concentrate with pineapple juice.

Thanks a lot. I have been using White just in case but I was hoping I could change. It definitely makes a difference though. I have started adding some dilute Ribena so it doesn't taste bad at all now.

The reason I have heard what white grapefruit juice is superior in terms of opiate potentiation is that it contains more of the chemical that enhibits the enzyme responsible for the potentiation than pink grapefruit juice. Not sure why, it just does apparently.

    Ruby Red doesn't work, either.
Don't drink grapefruit juice if you take a statin for cholesterol, like Lipitor, Zocor(simvastatin), or Mevacor.

Truth be told, grapefruit juice interacts with a LOT of medications (I used to work at a pharmacy and thus distributed MANY medication guides with notes about avoiding grapefruit juice) so it's advisable to do some quick research on any medications you may be taking before attempting to potentiate opiates using grapefruit juice. Failure to do so has resulted in deaths (though very rarely.)
