Do you think it would be cost effective for a dealer to mix coke with bath salts? With the uncertain nature of that product, it's unsettling. Do you think dealers do this?

I wouldn't think cocaine would cut costs. Maybe standard cuts like creatine ?

If a dealer was smart he would just order the pure chemical in bulk and sell it at profit.

People really sell "bath salts " on the street? Why would ppl buy that with all the meth floating around?

No, I'm saying would a dealer cut the coke with bath salts to cut the cost. So the coke would feel the same to the user, but distribute much less coke. I don't mean would someone try and sell bath salts and say use coke instead.

I think he meant would a dealer use bath salts to cut cocaine with

I can't say for sure, it depends on how sketchy the dealer is, but I definitely wouldn't be surprised to hear about that happening

    Oh sorry, was.a bit confused.

I would think using bath salts as a cut would be cutting into profits. I also don't think there are enough street dealers savvy enough to order drugs on the web.

Considering that most coke is cut with innert substances , wouldn't the quality be better if they used a pscycoactive cut?

Well, it would certainly be more psychoactive, and the average person might not even notice substituted cathinones mixed in with coke, but I have to imagine that the negative side effects and especially the crash, would be quite a bit worse with the combination vs. an inert cut

also, it seems as if the combo would be quite a bit more addictive than either substance on its own, considering that they are both known to cause compulsive re-dosing

SWIM has been noticing crazy crashes and mood swings, not the fun high. The high isn't a good coke high, but it has the numbing effect. The dealer is sketchy, but he's the only hook up right now. SWIM tried bath salts once a couple of years ago and it burned, this doesn't. The heart rate is up, but that's about it, and it's acting as a downer. Trying to figure out what's going on here.

It really all depends, someone may cut it with powder...as I said everyone is diffrent and some are serious on "cutting costs".

But, bath salts is not a "usual" cut that dealers would use.

    Well shit....

If you want to try to test your coke, cocaine HCl and the synthetic cathinones found in bath salts have different melting points

Cocaine HCl: 98 degrees celsius, 208 degrees Fahrenheit

The average melting points of most synthetic/substituted cathinones I found were above 150 Celsius, so if you were willing to waste a little powder, you could try burning it off some tin foil or something and seeing if it seems to vaporize/melt in 2 stages, which would indicate it was cut with what you're suspicious of

So put a but of coke on tinfoil, and if it melts it's cool? I will call SWIM and have them check right now.

Tanavar added 1 Minutes and 33 Seconds later...

    Up in smoke right away.

Yeah, if it all melts at once then he's set, but if part of it melts at lower heat and part at higher heat, then he knows he has more than just an inactive cut

Huh...maybe he put too much heat on it...or maybe it's just bad coke, that's entirely possible too

Also, make sure he knows he has to heat it gradually or it will just burn off like that

Lighter under the tinfoil, it went right up, turned black. Must just be shit. Heart is up, but that's about it.

Tanavar added 0 Minutes and 14 Seconds later...

Thanks for the help, by the way.

Erowid had this guide that I thought might be useful

According to The Pleasures of Cocaine, the following are some of the reactions of common cocaine cuts to the foil/burn test:
    • Mannitol: Melts and evaporates with little visible fumes and leaves no residue.

    • Inositol: Melts, then burns or decomposes to a black ash.

    • Lactose: Bubbles, caramelizes, and decomposes to a black ash, while producing a sweetish-smelling smoke like the odor of toasting marshmallows.
    • Dextrose: Same responses as lactose.
    • Pemoline: Melts, produces white fumes with burningplastic odor and leaves golden-brown stain.
    • Procaine hydrochloride: Melts, producing much white fumes with mild chlorine odor. The molten mass turns yellow, progresses to dark gold and leaves a golden-brown stain.
    • Procaine (free base): Melts quickly with little visible fumes and leaves no residue.
    • Butacaine sulfate: Decomposes with much fumes and a faint burning rubber or gunpowder odor and leaves a thick black ash.
    • Methedrine (Methamphetamine): Melts and vaporizes much like cocaine, but sizzles and pops. Leaves no residue.
    • Yohimbine hydrochloride: Melts, producing heavy white fumes with indole odor (a fetid odor with a slight pungency like moth flakes). The molten mass turns golden-brown and disappears, leaving a black stain.
    • Talc: Does not melt, vaporize or decompose.
    • Baking soda: Does not melt, vaporize or decompose.
    • Boric acid: After somewhat more heating than is required to decompose cocaine and most other cuts, it will bubble and fuse to a solid lump, but not decompose.
    • Epson salts: Does not melt, vaporize or decompose.

I just googled insitol, that's a weird filler. How would a dealer get that, any why? Are there threads I need to be directed to? This is a lot of information I wouldn't know to search on this forum. Sorry I am asking so many questions. I have browsed, but I wouldn't know what to search for in this case.

So it looks like it was insitol then? Huh...I suppose your friend could try a purification process to try to get what little cocaine there is out of all that filler

he might wanna check out something like this, for entertainment purposes only though, of course:
