Cannabinoids are a group of psychoactive and non-psychoactive substances that bind CB1 and/or CB2 receptors, produce behavioral effects similar to endocannabinoids like AEA and 2-AG. Some are synthetic such as JWH-018, and some occur in nature, such as THC.

USAUnder the Federal register citation 76 FR 11075 these five synthetic cannabinoids have been changed from unregulated to Schedule I controlled substances on March 1st, 2011.
