i have a script for lorazepam, and i was wondering if taking a small therapeutic dose of lorazepam would ease the anxiety in a mushroom trip. i have a lot of anxiety and im sure a mushroom trip can become quite frightening
Re: Benzos to ease anxiety in a mushroom trip Yes it would. Swibfs in possession of some nicely established anxieties, shrooms were never anything beyond confusing at their worst. Generally though if You is expecting to be frightened its more than likely going to be the case.
Re: Benzos to ease anxiety in a mushroom trip well i got generalized anxiety disorder so pretty much waking up is kinda frightening lol
Re: Benzos to ease anxiety in a mushroom trip Swibf wouldn't recommend shrooms, the experience is completely relative to the individual. Anxiety can turn the mind-opening experience into the most horrific 6-12hrs of Swiy's life. Dipping a toe into the shallow end of the dose range accompanied with a flotation device / benzo will really be the only way one could tell how desirable the trip might be.
Re: Benzos to ease anxiety in a mushroom trip Swim find that dealing with the anxiety or frightening moments of a trip allows SWIM to grow and mature. Almost like the anxiety is meant to be there in the trip. I would say don't reach for the lorazepam too quickly...
Re: Benzos to ease anxiety in a mushroom trip consumption of a sedative immediately before or during a psychedelic experience, completely and ineffably ruins the experience. I had all sorts of anxiety problems, but if I couldnt overcome them for psychedelic experiences I wouldnt be trying to have psychedelic experiences. also lorazepam is considered an organochloride, and is probably the most physically detrimental benzodiazapine in existance, barring perhaps phenazepam(each is prone to cause EPS). You may have never had any problems with it before, but swim's experiences in losing his ability to turn left while walking across a busy street have taught him better.
Re: Benzos to ease anxiety in a mushroom trip I would tend to agree with the above statement. He would only consume benzodiazepines if the situation truly warranted it, e.g. total freakout, coming down from a bad trip, unable to sleep after trip, etc. Otherwise, the lorazepam would probably overwhelm the psychedelic effects and make for a less enjoyable and/or beneficial experience. Maybe it would help swiUnderFaz more if he just kept some lorazepam around and planned on not taking it during the trip. Simply knowing that there is anxiolytic relief within reach should it become necessary can help reduce initial anxiety during the come-up. Another good insight. I feel the same way, especially about his first few mushroom experiences.
Re: Benzos to ease anxiety in a mushroom trip Swibfs never experienced acute anxiety, panic attack, or anything that might approach it. The preemption of the trip with a shorter acting benzo allows a few of Swibf's friends to ease into the fuller experience. Agreed though, Swibf can see it being diminished to a great extent although he's never done so.
Re: Benzos to ease anxiety in a mushroom trip Although I agree with the overall point you are making, to categorically state that any trip which is 'massaged' by a touch of a benzodiazepine is "completely and ineffably ruined" is platitudinous and just plain not true, in many people's experiences.
Re: Benzos to ease anxiety in a mushroom trip I have anxiety issues of his own that have made it impossible to enjoy maryjane anymore, but have found that shrooms have actually decreased anxiety. I have only done Shrooms several times at low doses (half an eighth) and found them to be very different than any hallucinagen my done before. I have never done LSD or esctasy (if you consider E a hallucinagen) but unlike other psycedilics tried that are simple hallucinations that can scare (due to the feeling of lossing control, grasping whats real and whats the drug, etc) Shrooms create an initial euphoria and bliss that is desirable enough but maintains though the peak effects causing the visuals to be hilarious and amazing. SWIM never once has had visual that were scary or caused anxiety or fear that I am familiar with using other psycedilics. I say just man up and do them with out added substances, mabye low dose like SWIM if your severly anxious cuse first two times I have done them, felt a wave of anxiety and panic build while waiting to kick in and both times the instant they started to hit it was like a bucket pale of water on a fire, all anxiety/fear/nervousness/panic went away and turned into euphoria, even feeling spiritually fullfilled at times for no apparent reason. If in the very rare off chance its starts to go bad, pop youz benzos but I dont think youd need them especially your first time even at normal dosages. Though to warn continuous use and high doses definitly can cause anxiety as the euphoria effects become surpassed by the hallucinations either from tolerance or just purely too much.
Re: Benzos to ease anxiety in a mushroom trip I have used (a lot of) benzos (Lorezapam, diazepam and alprazolam) to try to ease some uncomfortable anxiety with various substances, with various degrees of success; with acid: I have anxiety on the way up, but is fine once there. benzos do absolutely nothing for swim in this situation, so I don't bother with them (benzos) anymore when trippin cid - just accepts the take off and climd might be turbulent, but once at cruising altitude, everythings gonna be fine! with Marryjane, if anxiety/paranoia creeps in benzos certainly turn this around, very, very nicely for swim. with excessive doses e and phenethylamines swim gets variable results, usually positive I have never tried with shrooms, cos frankly shrooms never take swim to the right place consistently and anxiety has never been an issue for swim on shrooms. Don't really understand why this is.
