I think its been pretty stressful and rough for all of us, not just the addicts, here lately. The world seems to be imploding at a very slow, almost snail-esque pace, its just day after day of bad news compounding. Crime rate, drug abuse, mental illness, and the dreaded S-word, all skyrocketing.
I am a chef, if you didnt know, and after the second season of The Bear dropped, I finally cottoned on and watched it (its fucking amazing, I highly reccomend it to everyone, whether you like food for not; forewarning though, shit is rough. Just like chefs).
There is a particular episode that covers purpose, in your life, career, anything. And the motto for the episode is, "Every Second Counts".
(Season 2 episode 7, entitled Forks, in case you were wondering).
Basically it takes a chef, who is in a creative, personal and spiritual rut, and puts him in an environment where he can begin to really love the intricacies and little details again. The smiles and awe on the faces of the customers when a dish is presented (its a fucking three Michelin star restaurant after all).
And the effort, put into every little thing.
It made me think, a lot about my life and career and trajectory, what I want for myself.
I hope it does for you too.
A sample, with a great fucking track, which may be my anthem, if I can clean myself up a bit.
"Dog days are over - Florence + the machine"
Enjoy, and I hope you watch it, it has a lot to do with addiction, mental illness, and just life in general.
15/10, 1999/100, its amazing.
