Atypical or second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs), including aripiprazole (ARI) and olanzapine (OLA), are drugs of choice for schizophrenia treatment and are effective against delusions, hallucinations, and extrapyramidal adverse events.

Oxidative stress, an imbalance between oxidants and antioxidants, can result in liver inflammation, proliferation, and metabolic derangements. ARI protects liver cells from acute oxidative stress better than OLA.
