Exhaustion is a kind of extreme fatigue, extreme tiredness or extreme weakness caused, among other factors, by: mental stress, overstimulation, sleep deprivation and certain mineral/vitamin deficiency.
Overstimulation
[]
Mineral/vitamin deficiency
[to be looked at - certain drugs cause depletion of various minerals and vitamins. This could be due to these drugs affecting the absorption of these minerals/vitamins, or they directly affect their depletion via metabolic process]
Sleep deprivation
A general lack of the necessary amount of sleep.
[to be looked at - many stimulants, if taken over the long period of time, can cause sleep deprivations. Side effects of sleep deprivation and stimulants themselves can be similar and cause confusion as to what exactly is causing the symptom]
Scientists have known that sleep deprivation impairs a range of bodily functions, including the immune system and metabolism, as well as brain processes, such as learning and memory. Sleep loss leads to emotionally irrational behavior. Without sleep, the emotional centers of the brain dramatically overreact to negative experiences. (1)
